Overall Satisfaction with Quick Base

Quickbase is used by 5 departments within our large organization. We use it for workflow and project management, risk management, training, data analysis, and best practice checklists. Many of our departments are using Quickbase to replace Microsoft Excel and/or Access databases because it enables non-IT personnel to quickly develop and maintain applications.
  • Quickbase workflow is easy to set up and utilize, enabling more timely decision making.
  • Quickbase enables non-IT personnel to quickly develop and maintain applications.
  • Quickbase subscriptions allow leadership easy access to dynamic reports.
  • The ability to import and export data allows for quick data analytics.
  • Layout features need to be more robust.
  • System performance on large applications is not ideal. Creating new fields seems to take too long.
  • Table relationships are not as robust as many other databases. QuickBase limits it to one parent-child relationship.
We are able to create custom applications in a matter of hours and are able to make changes in seconds. It helps take pressure off of the IT organization because it allows community developers to create applications with no IT support. It allows us to administer our own custom built applications and gives us increased flexibility and customization.
  • access, excel, SAP Business Objects, SQL and Workato
QuickBase allows for rapid application development but you're left with out of the box functionality, sometimes making it difficult to customize applications to the level we'd prefer. We use QuickBase in certain instances when applications need timely and frequent updates. Overall QuickBase provides us with great benefit given its speed and flexibility.
  • Building and deploying business applications faster
  • Improving collaboration across one or more teams
  • Solving a specific business challenge
  • Building and deploying an application (or multiple applications) that meets our exact needs
I can build and deploy applications much faster than my counterparts in the IT organization. My QuickBase applications have a professional look and feel. Users find them very easy to use and interact with. I am very very happy with this low code platform. I will continue to use and promote this for many of my future database projects.
It is fairly easy for non-technical "citizen developers" to create custom applications in a matter of hours and changes are easy to make as well. We are completely self-sufficient and have full control over our QuickBase applications with no support from our IT organization. The 'IF' and other built-in functions provide enough functionality for non-technical developers to create robust applications without any programming experience.
We are continually updating our QuickBase checklists to add new questions, fields, and/or functionality. The update process is fairly straight forward and efficient, however we have experienced significant issues with synchronizing updates depending on the scope of the updates (users see incremental updates while I'm still implementing the final solution unless I make these updates during non-working hours).
Quickbase is well suited for workflow and simple, interactive checklists and databases.

Since Quickbase is cloud based there are concerns about data security related to export compliance. It is very costly to restrict access to only a limited set of users. We can't interface Quickbase with our internal ERP system very well.

Quickbase Feature Ratings

Pipeline and Governance

I was able to easily integrate my Tableau viz with QuickBase reports.
We use IP address filtering as well as groups and roles. We would like to integrate with LDAP but we have not done so as of yet.

Using Quick Base

500 - I work in a shadow IT group that develops Apps that are not enterprise level apps but are used by many groups, primarily within manufacturing operations. I work in Advanced Manufacturing Technology.
5 - We have approximately five super users that can develop and administer QuickBase applications.
  • Speed of deployment
  • Ease of development
  • Web based
  • Easy filtering and search of rexords
  • We are able to use QuickBase to allow operators on the shop floor to request help from our Industrial Engineers.
  • We used Quickbase to track our Additive Manufacturing capabilities.
  • We use QuickBase to manage our Design for Manufacturing process.
  • We want to do more visual applications, similar to Tableau.
  • We would like to build more complex workflow apps with notifications.
  • We would like an on premise option.
QuickBase is essential for our business. It would take a big effort to host our apps on a different platform. It would require many software developers to build custom apps with the existing capabilities of QuickBase. The cost of this effort would be prohibitive. QuickBase allows everyone to work from home which is important during the coronavirus pandemic.
  • The ROI is well understood by our leadership team. Leadership fully supports and encourages the proliferation of Quickbase.
  • We can reduce the need for a large team of software developers.
  • On rare occasions the application is down for maintenance.

Evaluating Quick Base and Competitors

Yes - QuickBase replaced a SQL database and MS Access databases.
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
  • Analyst Reports
The low code environment and speed of deployment were the biggest factors. The reporting capabilities and the ability to manage roles and groups is also very helpful. The built in workflow capabilities are awesome as well. The speed and scalability are also key to success for our organization. Our internal customers love the easy of use.
We already have a good feel for the pros and cons of QuickBase vs internally developed tools.

Quick Base Support

Overall Quickbase support is quick, timely and very helpful. We often get resolutions within hours. The ability to submit a question online is extremely helpful. I also like the options to have support contact you by phone, email, or chat. Customer support is very friendly, professional and truly cares about our success.

One time we modified a field and lost data associated with that field. QuickBase was easily able to restore our database from the previous day and get us back up and running with little interruption and no business impact. Support followed up with us to ensure everything was resolved to our satisfaction.

Using Quick Base

We are able to create custom applications quickly and are able to make changes whenever required with no IT support. It allows us to administer our own custom built applications and gives us increased flexibility and customization when we need it. QuickBase is cloud based so there is no cost associated with maintaining the infrastructure.
