The software is excellent for any application which is too large for Excel. The visual interface surpasses that of most SQL platforms. It is quite useful for data mining in an exploratory way but less useful in statistical and regression analysis.

Tibero

I cannot imagine where Tibero will be less appropriate. For anyone looking for a reliable RDBM software, I suggest reviewing Tibero's data sheet for more details of its features and decide for yourself, if this software would work best for your organization.

Pros

  • Crunches huge datasets
  • Has versatility in functionality and grouping capabilities
  • Native XML macro language is easy to master
  • The platform has great visualization tools

  • Smooth Transition: Tibero is highly compatible with Oracle, DB2, and other SQL based applications. If the new and old DBMS are not perfect compatibility, both DBMS must be used, but that is not the case with Tibero. No other RDBMSs allows for such easy change over.
  • Improved Security: digital key lengths are double Oracle’s length, which makes it even harder to crack.
  • Higher Reliability: Tibero provides full range of reliability modes (active-active, active-standby, and clustering standby modes).

Alternatives Considered

While we have used SQL, 1010data is really the only industry standard product available for our use.

I know Oracle, IBM's DB2, and Microsoft SQL Server are also commonly used DBMSs.We selected Tibero, because unlike DB2 and SQL Server, it is fully SQL compliant and therefore switching away from Oracle was very low risk for us despite never using Tibero before. We knew that worst case, we just go back to Oracle. However, after using Tibero, we realized it just makes more sense for us financially. Why pay for something more? It is identical to Oracle and claims to have better security. So far no problems.

Return on Investment

  • This has sped up the process of analysis.
  • We can now automate process which were performed manually.
  • Analysis can be performed more frequently.

  • Because Tibero's licensing and support fees are half of Oracle's, we were able to allocate the extra budget to other departments that were in greater need for those funds.
