Ahrefs
Chose Ahrefs
It's competitive with Semrush, Moz and other tools of that same ilk. It's great for serious SEO work - not at the Enterprise level - but at the small business, small agency level. I would not consider it competitive with BrightEdge, Conductor, SEOClarity, etc. - but it IS …
Chose Ahrefs
In my opinion, Ahrefs is the best backlink tool out there. Moz and SEMRush are also great tools for SEO, but if you strictly want to research your own backlinks and see what your competitors have in terms of backlinks, Ahrefs is the best way to do that. It's an easy platform to …
Chose Ahrefs
Ahref has more comprehensive functionality and it offers lots of online resources to train you on how to use their tools which is VERY helpful.
Chose Ahrefs
It's very clear that Ahrefs has a larger database than their competitors. I never run into issues where this tool isn't able to evaluate keywords - even if they are very long tail niche keywords.

The link section of the tool is also very useful. Ahrefs is able to clean up the …
Chose Ahrefs
At the time, Ahrefs had the most robust link index. Majesitc was a close second, and Moz lagged far behind. Since then, Moz promoted a major update and expansion of their link index, and it now bears further research to determine which product would be better for our …
Chose Ahrefs
Sadly we are coming [to] terms that even trough there are more and more options that Ahrefs has they are still incomplete or not working good enough. And the most important options (like frequent updates on rankings) are behind the most expensive membership.

Right now we mainly …
Chose Ahrefs
Ahrefs has the best backlink data even compared to funded competitors. On top of that, their analysis and tutorials make it possible to get value easily. Monitoring your website, your competitors, and finding SEO opportunities is very easy and there are some sophisticated …
Chose Ahrefs
Ahrefs is my clear choice when I need to better understand the link profile of my clients' websites as its database is unmatched. However, when it comes to keyword research, it is second only to Semrush. I wouldn't say that it's worse than Semrush as each is focused on …
Chose Ahrefs
I used to use Moz a lot and it is also a great tool. However, I found the Ahrefs UI was much friendlier and easier to navigate. I also like the specific use cases shown in the Ahrefs blog, which are much easier to follow and implement when using the Ahrefs tool itself. This …
Chose Ahrefs
Ahrefs provides a lot more data, in a lot more detail - and tells you exactly why it matters.
Moz is a nice tool - the UI is easier to navigate and there are more prompts for new users - but anyone doing serious work will do better with Ahrefs.
Chose Ahrefs
Ahrefs has more features and more accurate data than its competitors. While both Moz and Majestic are great tools and can be used as complimentary to Ahrefs, if you have to choose one tool, definitely choose Ahrefs. It has the biggest database of links and better stats for …
Chose Ahrefs
The closest competitor to Ahrefs Site Explorer would likely be SEMRush. Ahrefs seems to have a significantly larger amount of data to work with. They claim that their service is powered by the second most active crawler in the world, next to Google.
Chose Ahrefs
Moz's backlink, at least a few years ago, PALED in comparison. It was very unthorough and lacking in many backlinks that Aherfs Site Explorer would pull up. Aherfs Site Explorer would pull up way more. It also has way more info than Moz backlink tool did a few years ago - …
Chose Ahrefs
I feel like Ahrefs Site Explorer is the best in class for this type of tool. Moz has made great strides recently with their keyword research and backlink tool. It's come a long way, but I still feel Ahrefs Site Explorer is better at looking at sites, giving actionable insights, …
Chose Ahrefs
You can dip deeper with Ahrefs Site Explorer's data. It is great for crawling websites, doing website audits too. For deep analysis and research, Ahrefs is a step ahead of its competitors. Ahrefs has many tools like site & keyword explorer, content explorer, rank tracker, site …
Chose Ahrefs
As stated previously, Ahrefa Site Explorer is the best to have an array of tools in your pocket when researching websites and practicing SEO. I would recommend using multiple tools intermittently to cover a variety of searches related to your project. Some platforms may be …
Chose Ahrefs
I like the Ahrefs backlink tool the most. There's nothing else that gives that in-depth backlink analysis of your own websites and competitors.
Chose Ahrefs
I've used Moz in the past, and while it's simpler and easier to use for an unseasoned SEO person, it's also not as powerful as Ahrefs. If you already had a good idea of what you're doing, you're going to find that Ahrefs is much more useful than Moz. Moz is somewhat more …
Chose Ahrefs
Having used most of the industry's SEO suites, I chose Ahrefs because of its crawl depth and massive suite of tools. Most of the other suites have similar tools, but Ahrefs beats them in both accuracy and speed. These things are important for any SEO professional who …
Chose Ahrefs
It is the best tool available on the internet according to me. It has got some great tools and features which other tools and services does not have. It is more accurate as compared to others. It tell all the things for on-page seo and off-page seo about the competitor's website.
Chose Ahrefs
I like these other softwares too. If you work in an agency you will likely have uses for many different platforms. I do like the way that ahrefs indexes and tracks links more than anything else I have used though. I think it is very effective with competitive research as well.
Chose Ahrefs
Ahrefs is the oldest of the tools and its index is gigantic in comparison. It also distinguishes between live and historical links which is important for determening the current value of a website.

It lacks some of the onsite auditing tools which Serpstat Moz and even SE Ranking
Chose Ahrefs
Betweem Moz, SEMRush, and Ahrefs - Ahrefs takes the cake. Though Moz is catching up with link data, their other toolsets do not provide enough useful data to make complex decisions. SEMRush is a close tie with Ahrefs and would definitely be on top of mind if I also managed PPC. …
Moz Pro
Chose Moz Pro
We still use Ahrefs periodically to fill in any gaps that Moz's data might have, or to see that data from a different angle. We always come back to Moz because they have a larger suite of tools in a single package. They provide the best value for the price. And because of the …
Chose Moz Pro
I prefer Ahrefs Site Explorer to Moz's Open Site Explorer. It has much more data on current and historical backlinks, as well as useful charts. The UI is easy to navigate and there are options for exporting the data, which I find useful as well.
Chose Moz Pro
MOZ is a great beginner tool but there are more advanced tools out there like Ahrefs that allow you to do even more and have live crawl indexes for making decisions in almost real time. When you compare the crawl depth of other tools to MOZ, you can see where MOZ is lagging …
Chose Moz Pro
I prefer Moz Pro to SEMRush and Ahrefs Site Explorer because I think it is much easier to use and understand. I believe it can be used along with SpyFu because SpyFu has alot of Google Adwords information that can be used in competition analysis that moz doesn't have. These two …
Chose Moz Pro
Moz is simple to use. It lacks the depth in backlinks database compared to Ahrefs, and Ahrefs perhaps does a little better in automatically figuring what keywords you rank for compared to MoZ. But overall Moz has some other strengths that make it an all-round package. It is …
Chose Moz Pro
The two closest competitors are Ahrefs and SEMRush, with additional tools upmarket.

Each platform has its own strengths, and we use all three at FMI. For Moz, we most like the Keyword Explorer toolset and its recommendation engine and filtering mechanisms - it's a big difference …
Chose Moz Pro
Moz Pro and Ahrefs each have their own strengths, and we use both. There is a lot of overlap between the two, but I find that there are certain things that each does better. For keyword research, backlink analysis, and site crawls, we generally gravitate toward Moz Pro because …
Chose Moz Pro
A[s] we all know Ahref or Semrush are very expensive tools. Startups cannot buy these tools. Moz Pro is reasonable and it gives you multiple features at [a] lower price.
Chose Moz Pro
I think all SEO tools have their pros and cons, but Moz is a heavy hitter. They are the resident authority for educating SEO's, and that is for a reason. Their product works well. I wouldn't say it is head and shoulders above any competitors, but it gets the job done. When it …
Chose Moz Pro
To be totally honest, the user-interface with Google Analytics is so terrible that I could hardly ever figure out what it was communicating. Moz was easy to use from day one and I can feel like I understand SEO a bit after using the site for just a short time.
Chose Moz Pro
Not as detailed backlink tracking but far more tools for SEOs and inbound marketers.
Chose Moz Pro
Moz is a good alternative but my current team leverages a variety of tools in order to support our external and internal customers. Moz has benefits for certain uses--it's strengths are easy, intuitive control systems, well rounded reporting functionality and decent backlink …
Chose Moz Pro
I consider Moz the most accurate service in terms of rankings, links, and authority metrics. More often than not, Moz's information reflects what we see on the search engines while other products have a much larger margin of error.
Chose Moz Pro
My favorite tool is SEMrush. I selected Moz to help with link-based research because SEMrush is more focused on keyword data. For the link-based data, Ahrefs is probably the biggest threat to Moz. It has an amazing amount of data, and from the chatter I hear the data is more …
Chose Moz Pro
We use Raven Tools and Moz. Raven Tools aggregates Moz data through their partnership, so if you only have $100 a month to spend, consider Raven Tools.

Chose Yoast

Chose Yoast
Yoast Wordpress SEO Plugins cannot be compared to the rest. It contains utilities that none of the other plugins in the aggregate have. I probably tried everything that is under WordPress, and yet Yoast Wordpress SEO Plugins turned out to be the best. A few years ago, he …
Chose Yoast
Yoast doesn't even compare to these other products. I would spend more time learning about SEO and doing everything yourself rather than trusting Yoast to do it for you. I chose Yoast only because of the off-platform websites we have and the clients wanted to understand the …
Chose Yoast
Yoast is unique in the sense that it makes implementing SEO recommendations that we pull from the other comparable tools a real breeze! It's simple to use and saves hours that would ordinarily be used for training and can be used for the implementation of recommendations. No …
Chose Yoast
An affordable (free if you don't want or need the premium version) alternative to some of the other options! If you're running a simple site with minimal plugins that may cause conflict, then I feel Yoast SEO plugins are very beneficial. Their website has a lot of good articles …
Chose Yoast
Yoast is much easier to use than many of the more advanced SEO tools. That being the case, it is a perfect solution for beginner and intermediate users. Since most of our clients fall into that category, Yoast SEO is a tool that they can feel confident using to optimize their …
Chose Yoast
Yoast is less robust than the standalone pay services that stand on their own outside of WordPress. Moz is a great research tool, especially for agencies like ours. It gives us access to insights for several clients with ease. That said, it is expensive, and once you get the …
Chose Yoast
Yoast WordPress SEO Plugins are the best-in-class tools. They are better than what we have used before because they are more robust and have greater capabilities. In today's fast-paced business world, our company doesn't have time to utilize a bunch of different SEO tools and …

Ahrefs is a must have in the SEO toolbox. It is one of the leading tools in the industry for serious SEO research. It can do almost everything you need on the non-technical side of SEO. In my opinion, it is not great if you need a detailed technical tool that identifies errors and helps with fix suggestions. In that instance, I think there are better tools on the market. But - for content and keyword related tasks, I think it's must have.

Businesses looking to keep track of their web presence and utilize a tool to identify areas of opportunity. The trends tracking and competitor modeling allow businesses to be able to build an SEO strategy that they can track progress over time and fill in content gaps. This is used by our company in conjunction with our marketing automation tool and Google's web presence suite (eg. Google Analytics, Search Console, Tag Manager).

Yoast Wordpress SEO Plugins is really great for any application - home pages, blogs, etc. It saves a lot of time researching keywords, but it is time-consuming crafting content, which I think is a necessary evil. I wasn't really seeing the immediate results I had hoped for, but there could be a variety of reasons for that (cookies, caches, etc.). Overall, if you have the time to dedicate and utilize the tool, it's awesome!

Pros
Ahrefs
  • I have been using this platform in my organization to develop several SEO tools to help to grow our website much.
  • It has all the main features which include competitor research, keyword research, website audit, content research, and rank tracking.
  • I have been using all these functions in the organization for several purposes. It provides complete information and complete performance details of the SEO.
  • It provides us the detailed keyword research with volume, CPC, and other information.

Cons
Ahrefs
  • Can't export graphs: some graphs within the tool would be useful as an export. Unfortunately, exporting them is not an option.
  • No "blanket" reporting options: though Ahrefs is excellent for gathering and exporting intel/data, there are no blanket SEO reports provided. Exporting data is great, but simple report exporting would make it better.

  • Some of the auto-gen visual tables aren't all that useful for smaller companies. For instance on the Search Visibility tab, many of my clients have a tiny % of keywords in the top-10, so the table shows basically 4 overlaid flat lines. I wish we had some options to customize this table or expand the range or something.
  • I wish there were some more tools relating to the technical aspects of the site/pages. The whole tool is very keyword-oriented, which is fine, but I feel like over time this has become and will continue to be less important than technical aspects, site speed, voice search, etc.
  • There's an Anchor Text tab, but it only looks at Inbound links—I wish this feature was for on-site anchor text—this could be a much better optimization tool. Because there's nothing you can do about inbound link text.

  • Density: Because even the free, basic Yoast SEO tool has SO MANY FEATURES, if you're brand new to SEO as a concept/practice, you might feel a little overwhelmed at first. Just go watch the training videos!
  • Bulk Title Editing: I'm sure this tool can be useful, but I've never found it to be particularly intuitive or helpful.
  • Limitations: I'm grasping at straws here, but it would be nice if some of the premium (paid) features- specifically the social media previews- were available in the free version. Like I said, grasping.

Ahrefs is very easy to use - you can jump right in and understand most of the assets. Overall, the dashboard snapshots give a very good picture of inbound link activity. Ahrefs has always been responsive when there's been a technical issue with the site. As I have mentioned before, if you have enterprise subscription, the staff are super helpful. Moz also participated in the marketing tech conferences especially moz in seattle. These sessions are super useful in helping digital marketing analyst like me to investigate new marketing techniques, tracking leads and conversions and eventually monetize them. Their staff is not only knowledgeable in their own product but they have been around. For example Dr Peter from moz always publishes his insights and I have relied somewhat on his opinions.

There are plenty of amazing articles published on their site, however, I don't rate their actual support team as being particularly helpful. Majestic and Ahrefs are really close in terms of tool. Ahrefs does offer competitive comparison and they do have a more up to date data base. Majestic however has a more comprehensive historical view of sites which is also extremely valuable. Majestic also offers a link velocity chart that is missing on Ahrefs. Ahrefs makes up for this with their links gained/lost calendar which Majestic is missing.

Moz emerged as an industry leader with a great reputation for driving optimal SEO performance and ROI for customers. Moz' thought leadership on all things SEO gave us a lot of confidence to invest and partner with them. We were also impressed with the on demand platform training and tools provided from day 1. Lastly, Moz was one of the more expensive platforms, but it wasn't the most expensive, so we felt we received great value for the overall price.
