Amazon Chime

Amazon Chime is well suited for any online meeting or presentation, as it's easy to use and works well with great video/audio. It may be less appropriate if you are talking to a prospect that has strong feelings against Amazon, or one that is more wary of technology.

TeamViewer

I specialize in Android development specifically. I am the team lead for mobile development in my organization. Most times I have new members in my team who require help working with the Android studio platform, and in order to save my time and energy in movement, I simply connect to their PC's view with TeamViewer and guide them on development models more efficiently.

Pros

  • One of the few things that Amazon Chime does well is scheduling calls with Gmail. It's pretty easy to do.
  • Another thing Amazon Chime does will is basic functions like muting and unmuting the mic and screensharing.

  • TeamViewer lets our management team work on the same computers as they the use when they are in the office, but from anywhere in the world and they can connect to all our in house servers when they are using teamviewer, so no more excuses or snow days and no more lost productivity.
  • TeamViewer is great because it has a feature that allows users to connection to their work computers from a remote location, but also printer to a printer in that remote locations, so its like they are right there in the office.
  • TeamViewer allows our users with multiple monitors in the office to connect to their computers in the office remotely and even see what is open on each of their monitors with an easy one click button to switch between their two in office monitors, making it one of the few remote access programs to work nicely with multi monitor setups.

Cons

  • Sometimes people are confused because they don't necessarily know or understand what Amazon Chime is because they haven't heard of it. However, they trust the "Amazon" brand, so once they click and sign in, things are fine.

  • There is no VoIP function. If you use TV with a client, you must also be connected to your remote partner by phone.
  • It can be set up for "userless" remote access -- which is a great help in many situations, but could mean that your staff can get unlimited access to a client's computer. EG staff could use their own laptops and TV to access a remote client desktop in the middle of the night. Generally a Windows password would stop them from using the remote PC, but people often remain logged in... giving the TV user (your staff) unlimited access to the remote desktop at will.
  • It is upgraded annually -- TV is a software company that (still) sells a full install of the software for a single price. That's cool -- one price and I keep it forever -- except that they upgrade every year and make you buy the upgrades to stay in synch with the rest of the world. I find the whole thing to be very expensive.

I gave this a 5 rating as I'm thinking that is as close to neutral as I can get. I have never used the in-person training but to complete this review I need to answer this question. As I already answered I learned the software on my own without the help of any resources at TeamViewer.

I have never used the online training either. I have watched a few informational videos that were helpful when learning how to do a specific procedure within TeamViewer and get the most out of the software by utilizing one of the many features that are available with the software. Again, 5 if for neutral.

Alternatives Considered

I believe Amazon Chime is better, easier to use, and had better quality video/audio

I've evaluated and used gotoassist, join.me, logmein and other tools like ScreenConnect out there.

Return on Investment

  • We use the free version, and we benefit from better access to discussions with prospective hires which can lead to increase win percentage.
No photo available
  • Better customer service from the Service Desk
  • Faster incident resolution
  • Better problem investigation due to the ability to see the user's screen - e.g. a technician can use SnagIt on their own computer to capture a screenshot a user's computer screen that they are seeing over TeamViewer, so the user does not need to be instructed on how to capture and send a screenshot.
  • Better capture of incidents that are due to user error and may be resolved by user education - e.g. a technician can watch what the user is doing to see if they are clicking on something incorrectly instead of following the correct procedure.
