When we demo'd NinjaOne, we were not able to fully get the demo off the ground. We had issues and needed support. Ninja didn't get us the support or time involvement to help complete the demo and make the sales. Automox went above and beyond during our demo. We got the …

NinjaOne does not patch 32 bit applications well, had a lot of errors while on trial, and the interface was noticeably lagging and slow. NinjaOne uses a third party for third party patching whereas Automox has it integrated within.

Chose Automox
NinjaOne does really well as an RMM. They are still a baby in patching, but they are growing rapidly. Qualys for patching is a little complicated to use. You actually need to be certified with them to comfortably use it. Their support is a little bit hard to work with.
Chose Automox
Automox has a much better user interface. Much simpler to use and share tasks with other team members. They offer great additional training and certifications to help you become an expert.
Chose Automox
Cloud-based solution with no need for on-prem infrastructure. Support Windows, macOS, Linux, and third-party applications. Cost-effective solution compared with other vendors.
Chose Automox
Automox is by far the easiest to use and does a better job patching. The built in AI tool is a real time saver making writing Powershell scripts quick and easy.
Chose Automox
Automox is much more reliable and simpler, but it does only focus on one thing, patching. It comes up as one of the top patching tools in searches.

Smaller organisations such as ourselves, who have outgrown their MSP but still need to retain control of their system and have visibility of the estate. The tool enables us to have real-time visibility and deploy or remediate as needed. We have also purchased Rapid7, which integrates natively into the product, making it a more powerful tool moving forward.

NinjaOne
Well suited for support and management of a large fleet of endpoints, particularly across multiple regions and locations. Its well suited for MSPs for this reason. Its also effective for managing patching and updates for server infrastructure, where some other products are unable to manage. Its useful being able to access these features across multiple networks and domains. There is an option to monitor network equipment such as switches, but it didn't provide any information that wasn't already provided in the switches cloud portal.

Cons
Automox
  • Server patching orchestration. There is no way to patch and reboot systems in order of importance, such as database servers before application servers.
  • Worklets for patching .net core and similar.
  • Worklets for removing unwanted Java installs or other unwanted software.
  • Integration with Tenable Vulnerability Management.
  • AI script development should be included at no additional cost; GPT or Gemini can be used instead for free and pasted into Automox. Why charge when others are free?
  • Official worklets are slow to be added or updated.

  • The platform was developed many years ago, a fresher look (even for the cloud-based console) would be appreciated.
  • The ability to control mail platforms other than MS Exchange.
  • The ability to control more features on iOS (knowing how the iOS Platform is at the moment).

This is a software that just works. Once configured its a set and forget kind of tool that keeps things up to date and alerts me if something is wrong. I was able to work through an expansion project to deploy an additional 500 devices in almost no time and create a robust self-patching environment.

Usability
Automox
It truly functions like a single pane of glass. While our use case is for EC2 instances in AWS, it can manage endpoints across all clouds, or even deployed hardware (laptops). We do manage instances in multiple AWS accounts and there is no set up required between orgs. This accomplishes our needs for real time tracking, and historical reporting for all of our in scope resources.

NinjaOne is easy to use, intuitive, and provides great value for our organization specifically with inventory tracking and patch management. There is also a wealth of control from an RMM perspective that we have over our fleet of hardware as well as customer websites. The communications with our account representative is outstanding as well. I'd highly recommend for organizations to engage with NinjaOne, and this is from a user who's used other RMM's and related software offerings at different MSP's. Go NinjaOne!

The overall usability of the Sophos Mobile is fantastic, and we were able to deploy entire solutions within the stipulated timeline. The management perspective is also up to the mark, and the completely user-friendly GUI to understand and manage what we need. Adding different types of Endpoints into the Central Console was also very useful, with deep insights into the Policy and endpoint protection.

Implementation Rating
Automox
Implementing Automox successfully starts with a clear strategy for organizing and grouping devices based on operating systems, environments, or business criticality. This ensures that patching and configuration policies can be applied with precision. A phased rollout approach is essential—beginning with a pilot group allows teams to test patching schedules, reboot behaviors, and custom Worklets before scaling across the organization. Leveraging Worklets from the start can significantly boost automation by enforcing security baselines and performing routine system tasks. Integration with existing SOC tools, such as SIEMs, enhances visibility and response time by correlating patch compliance with threat intelligence. Additionally, aligning patching schedules with operational downtimes minimizes disruptions, and consistent monitoring and reporting helps maintain compliance and prepare for audits. Overall, Automox offers a streamlined and effective solution, but its true value is unlocked through thoughtful planning, testing, and integration with existing IT and security workflows.

All of these other products are overly complicated with user interfaces that are not very friendly.. too technical, even for IT pros. They are also expensive for smaller companies or those with limited IT budgets. I've found that these other solutions are really geared for larger enterprises more than small to midsized companies, which is fine... but then they tend to market themselves as good for everyone, when they are really not.

Personally, haven't seen any other MDM on the market, but I feel since Sophos is greatly known to have easy to use products, that the others may not be as easy to use as Sophos Mobile Control. One of the key factors for organizations to choose Sophos Mobile Control and Security is because the Android OS (most attacked OS on the planet) is protected with award-winning antivirus and anti malware from Sophos. We have seen as advisors, how unprotected customers, get huge telecom bills because of the lack of security, since they think that an Android OS is healthy enough... big mistake. One simple thing I always tell friends, family and customers, protect your Android device with Sophos Security (it's free for home users).
