Azure Data Catalog vs Azure HDInsight

We have a large set of data which our customers periodically look for for various in-depth analysis. Azure platform makes it easier for us to register & catalogue all available information easily. This way when the customer actually made a sudden request or they want to access sensitive information on their own, the data is readily presented to them. Needless to say we use this mined and catalogue data for a variety of inhouse training and other improvement initiatives.

If you want to save costs and just pay for what you use, I highly recommend it. It will help you also to work with data for your reports and analytics. on the other hand I think it could be the subscription you have but high volume of data make it slow but not so much. anyway I think it's really good because it's from Microsoft which always is friendly to use it as all the suit they have.

It efficiently manages data and is fully managed.
User-friendliness is a strong suit of this program.
Easy to learn and adaptable to a wide range of data sets.
Using this method, everything was neatly organized and easy to find.

Data is presented without interfering others (IT or other dept).
Data is managed properly and is available for retrievable any time.
Legacy use of CD/DVD and Pendrive are not required.

Cons

UX and design in terms of usage and features.
Format of the platform can at times be complicated during on boarding.
Reporting templates at times dont fit our needs

The only problem I have come across is when loading large volumes of data I sometimes get an error message, I assume this means something is corrupt from within. I would love a way for this to be resolved without having to start over.

Azure HDInsight is usable on the top of Azure Data Lake and gives us the benefit of analyzing large scale data workload in Hadoop. Usability and support from Microsoft are outstanding.

Alternatives Considered

We selected Azure because of other Microsoft products in our ecosystem. The interface and ability to move items across applications like Teams made it easy to adopt. Azure Data Catalog also came highly rated for reliability. We were certain that with it, our people wouldn’t have much down time due to software outages.
