I am the ERP Specialist for the company. We just went live with Acumatica in January. I am the on staff support for the ERP system. I know this will be a huge benefit to this company. I'm excited about our future. As a consumer goods company, leveraging SPS Commerce with our EDI customers has already started to show its value.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Acumatica in our core business management platforms to centralize financials, operations and reporting across the company, where the platform supports day to day transactions needs along with providing real-time visibility around cost and operational efficiency. It has automated manual workings, disjoined processes and scattered functions into one umbrella, leading time saving and process optimisation. It's cost model doesn't charge per user making it easy to scale with the platform for mid-size companies like us. Real-time integrated data across various processes in the form of KPI can be tracked on real-time basis leading in-formed decision making. It also allows faster closure and accurate financial reporting.

Pros

  • Real-time access to financials across firm's locations in India for better in-house sales, cost and financial health analysis
  • The tool is great with respect to the creation of dashboards and KPI reporting to get visual picture of profitability and cash flow metrics across projects

Cons

  • Acumatica's open API is very powerful but doesn't get integrated cleanly across every external system, challenge arises with integration of legacy systems
  • Some of the platform feature's requires third-party add-ons or custom developments like advance finance report & BI.
  • Sometimes it gets glitch in the system leading slower processing speed

  • It has fastened up the efficiency and better insights around financial decision making with respect to real time data around project financials with dashboards, which earlier use to take more time due to scattered functionalities, leading faster time to value in core workflows

I use Acumatica a lot. Behind the scenes, I'm creating dashboard widgets and things like that, but initially I was inputting AR invoices and putting my AP invoices, doing my cash receipts. We use it for everything.

Pros

  • Particularly well is just the ease of it being able to be used. We're coming from Sage, that's the product that we used before. Sage was limited, five people could get into the system at a time. Acumatica is unlimited.
  • The amount of information that's so easily accessible has made us more efficient, more productive, and it just makes for an easier workday when everybody can see the same information real time.

Cons

  • That's a tough one. I don't see where they could improve. For me it's always more on the user side that we can improve. Acumatica is only as good as what you put into it, so if there's ever an issue with Acumatica, I don't blame the system. I say what if we entered in incorrectly or not enough of for the system not to be able to provide what we want.

Return on Investment

  • Positive. Again, it is just that insight that everybody can see. Whether it's my sales guy that's on the show floor that's looking at it at his mobile app, or if it's me in the office logging in every single day, I know what our inventory is. I'm never worried about if we have enough product or where everyone is at. It has it all.

We use Acumatica as an all-encompassing solution that covers Sales Orders, Shipping, Purchasing, Accounting (AP/AR), Manufacturing, and more! We are really using this to currently heal our inventory processes and accuracy as we had loosely kept track thru Excel prior to Acumatica. Other things that we use it for where we had issues were tracking quotes, submission of 2D & 3D design for our products and trackable purchase receipts and shipments.

Pros

  • The data is very flexible, you are almost able to do anything with the data if you can establish the right relations.
  • The UI is very friendly and easy on the eyes, compared to our last ERP which I coined as a "List of lists" where drop-down menus lead to drop-down menus.
  • Dashboards and keeping everything as a single source of truth.

Cons

  • Mass updating existing BOMs or Production Order Details. For larger orders, especially if many things need to be changed it can take a painstakingly long time to update each production order one-by-one.
  • The product configurator is too flat, we definitely need nested configurations that can capture variable subassemblies.
  • Accounting has room for improvement, I don't really like the idea of SO Invoices living in a separate spot until they are Released. I have had complaints from our accounting personnel since they have to leave the "Accounting World".

Return on Investment

  • We are able to send automated notifications through business Events, which ensures that information travels seamlessly and without the possibility of someone forgetting an email.
  • We save time being able to read our demand and level it against our current inventory qty on hand and our supply to make better strategic decisions when purchasing.
  • Better our business and see our pitfalls that were once hidden in our factory by establishing an On-Time Delivery system within a generic inquiry that uses data that is readily available in Acumatica.

We use Acumatica to input product, purchasing audio visual items, tracking products as well as organizing inventory. This makes us easier to keep all of our product and customer information in one place. It has an easy format to track an issue if one occurs. We use it for an audio visual intergration business.
