  • We wanted to decrease file storage use of our file server by certain departments and groups, OneDrive allowed us to move user files and other "high traffic" documents off our infrastructure and onto a platform that we were already supporting.
  • OneDrive increased collaboration not just across groups, but also with external partners. We weren't able to get the same level of control and collaboration at the same price point with other services we evaluated.

  • It has made our team much more efficient by easily accessing documents and editing them without having to check them out, edit, and check in. Great time saver.
  • It allows us to share documents with permissions across teams easily just using email verification instead of creating complicated roles and groups.
  • It is very similar to Google Drive, but better integrated for Microsoft based companies.

  • Positive effect is that as more hard drives crash we don't lose sensitive data. It is impossible to put a price tag on that since most don't expect drives to crash even though there is a clear history that it's not if, but when will the drive crash.
  • Sharing documents through the web has been great. Many times when PCs are out of commission we can get a back and then regain access to those important data files and continue making changes on them without having to install the software to run them.
  • We did lose the ability to share with groups of people when we moved from Gdrive to 1Drive since group sharing is not as easy to control by the user.

  • Allowed for citywide employees to more easily and quickly share documents saving valuable time.
  • Provided a nice backup of documents in cases of lost laptop, lost device, corrupted drive, etc.

  • Multi-User edit sessions have been a positive.
  • Moving documents to a cloud based model has made collaboration easier.
  • Larger files that require greater throughput are going to deadlock the OneDrive sync engine.
  • ODFB is only suitable as an add-on, I would not purchase it by itself.

  • We are able to eliminate Dropbox for internal work because of OneDrive
  • Syncing is not as strong as it should be. When multiple people collaborate on a shared file - sometimes versions get out of sync due to timeouts or other network related issues.

  • I'm not sure that we have really analyzed what kind of ROI OneDrive has impacted the business; I do agree that it makes working from home a lot easier.
  • Having a flexible schedule outside of tax season, I find myself working more from home. Being able to effectively manage all our documents/photos/ads/promotional artwork from my home computer is awesome.
  • Happy employees means a happy business!

  • Mostly a negligible impact due to many cloud storage options available right now.
  • It's there, but the default space has dramatically dropped making it less usable overall.
  • Our team likes having OneDrive as an option, but it's never the first choice when it comes to cloud saving.

  • The persistence of file access across devices and services I use has been invaluable.
  • With Continuum and Windows 10, I can easily work with my data across devices without any hassle. Pick up and put down anywhere, and continue work on the fly. Fantastic.
  • Granular privacy/access controls allow me to share data publicly without worry.
