  • Fast processing of large amounts of data
  • User friendly analysis of data - quick data manipulation
  • Short development times
  • More data visualization options in the standard product, or better quality of the extensions. For example, a bullet chart, a scatter chart that doesn't automatically compress data, more options to customize a line chart...
  • Version control for the development process
  • The ability to organize the work folder
  • An option to inspect and analyze tables during script debugging
  • A standard option to generate basic reports (without Nprinting, which I tried and did not like)
  • email alerts for failed tasks, or even email alerts when certain KPI's move to a certain value
  • An option to load data in real time
  • An easy option to share a bookmark with other users

  • Visualizations that interact with the user.
  • Associations help users understand the data and can provide answers.
  • Handling of large volumes of data with ease.
  • Restrict who can see what especially with functional data.
  • From a development point, be able to replicate variables more easily and be able to use the find/replace function.
  • More flexibility around waterfall charts and making them easier to build.
  • Ability to do cyclical groups (as in QlikView) so save canvass space.

  • Data Modeling. I really appreciate how Qlik Sense is a truly approachable professional tool. Loading and connecting data tables into an app can be as simple or complex as your project requires. This allows both novice and expert users to effectively develop data visualizations.
  • Wide Userbase. The fact that Qlik Sense has so many users around the globe means that there are a plethora of training materials available online from many sources. Qlik's training materials are helpful, but I also found valuable resources at Udemy.com and even on YouTube.
  • Consistent Visualizations. The process for creating nearly every type of visualization is very similar, meaning that it does not take long for a new user to learn the basic processes of the program and to become an efficient report/app developer.
  • Simplicity. Being a PowerBI user as well, I think Microsoft does a better job concerning the simplicity of layout and cloud integration of their product.
  • Modern Design. I also think PowerBI does a better job of making aesthetically attractive visualizations right out of the box. Some of Qlik Sense's visualizations are very practical, but lack of design without a lot of finicky adjustments.

  • Easy to link different data sources.
  • Easy to associate the various data sources with key fields
  • Qlik Sense does not always update the data sources. I frequently have to start from scratch and re-load the files, re-associate them, and re-create the sheets.
  • Qlik Sense has not been very useful. It would be nice to have a way to guide it and give it some parameters.

  • Reducing manual transactions for end users.
  • It allows end-users to quickly drill down into data to spend more time addressing problems rather than trying to find where they are.
  • Allows the consolidating of data from multiple sources.
  • Not everything is intuitive, requires experience and training to get the best out of Qlik and create good data models and dashboards.
  • The dashboards themselves are not the most aesthetically pleasing compared to other software packages that are available.
  • There are limited options to customise the look and feel of dashboards.

  • Utilizing the associative model and green and grey color coding in the filters, I am able to obtain a cross-section of categories of medical benefits and services.
  • Eg. Expenditure on a ven diagram like cross over of two different benefit types.
  • This type of analysis would normally have required more complex queries of the data but with Qlik I can do this in a matter of seconds.
  • I'm able to code directly in the load script and create complex calculations on the fly instead of having to go back to a database and export calculated variables.
  • Visualizations are highly customizable with calculations in the measures or dimensions.
  • I would like to see more easy to use trend line functions. Polynomial, linear, moving average, etc.
  • Easier access to modifying the heading fonts, sizes, and colors.

  • One of the strengths of Qlik Sense is that it is a very user-friendly tool - it has a responsive interface that makes it so easy to use on multiple (portable) devices.
  • It is very easy to train the users on Qlik Sense and also very easy to install.
  • Sometimes it is a little challenging to use with all types of modern browsers when using overcloud.
  • Data management becomes complex when working with primary keys and updating them as there is so tight coupling between master data components.
