Overall Satisfaction with Qlik Sense
Qlik is being used in various claims departments and allows us to gain insights into expenditure categories for clients.
Pros
- Utilizing the associative model and green and grey color coding in the filters, I am able to obtain a cross-section of categories of medical benefits and services.
- Eg. Expenditure on a ven diagram like cross over of two different benefit types.
- This type of analysis would normally have required more complex queries of the data but with Qlik I can do this in a matter of seconds.
- I'm able to code directly in the load script and create complex calculations on the fly instead of having to go back to a database and export calculated variables.
- Visualizations are highly customizable with calculations in the measures or dimensions.
Cons
- I would like to see more easy to use trend line functions. Polynomial, linear, moving average, etc.
- Easier access to modifying the heading fonts, sizes, and colors.
- Given the time to turn around our strategy area has been leveraging Qlik to monitor business objectives and initiatives
- Team Managers are able to obtain detailed level data instead of having this rolled up so it would fit in an Excel report. This has enabled them to have more detailed discussions with their staff.
These two options offer a great tool for visualization and customisability in their charts, however, I preferred the default associative model of Qlik where your selections are persistent across multiple pages allowing for more exploration. I also really enjoyed Qlik's ability to write code and customize the data table in the load script and not just the GUI.
