What is UniFocus Labor Management System (LMS)?

UniFocus is a labor management and time and attendance platform intended for companies with large workforces or variable scheduling requirements. UniFocus offers its users the ability to automatically forecast, budget, schedule, and assess their workforce to ensure that company needs and labor standards are met. In addition to its software offering, UniFocus also offers extensive training and consulting services to improve customers’ use of the product as well as their business.

Labor Management

UniFocus aims to take much of the burden of accurately forecasting staffing needs, aligning staffing needs with labor standards, keeping track of employee availability and time-off requests, creating schedules, and assessing employee performance away from the managers by automating these processes. For forecasting, UniFocus provides a unique forecasting module powered by AI that takes in both internal and external factors as well as industry-specific knowledge in order to accurately predict what an organization’s staffing needs will be. UniFocus makes labor planning easy by matching labor needs to fluctuations in customer volume.

UniFocus also makes scheduling easier by automating the entire process. The scheduler takes automatically into account data from the forecasting module to determine the number of employees needed at any given time. Assuming availability and time-off requests are accurately reflected in the system, the scheduler can then generate a schedule that adheres to both the business’s needs and labor standards. In case of any errors or conflicts, the automatically-generated schedule can be easily tweaked by the managers. Employees can easily alter their availability and time-off requests through the mobile application provided by UniFocus. UniFocus offers real-time reporting capabilities as well, meaning managers can easily spot and fix problems related to forecasting, budgeting and scheduling.

Training and Consulting

UniFocus offers in-depth training on all of its major functionalities: time and attendance management, labor management, budgeting, and customer satisfaction. The time and attendance training consists of courses for both managers and administrators alike that teaches them how to use UniFocus’s product but also provides insights on how to best manage employees’ time apart from the product. The labor management training includes courses related to scheduling, forecasting, leadership, and administering the product itself. The budgeting training offers courses in both labor budgeting as well as operational budgeting. The customer satisfaction training demonstrates how UniFocus users can leverage insights from the product to improve the customer’s experience. Training options include self-paced learning and scheduled webinars.

Users of UniFocus have the option of utilizing their personalized consulting services in addition to the training they offer. They offer consulting in both setting labor standards and productivity optimization. Their labor standards consulting focuses on ensuring that all labor costs are being managed effectively while still meeting the business’s needs and labor standards. Their productivity consulting focuses on optimizing the management process, ensuring that employee skills are being utilized appropriately and that equipment and technology are being used to their full potential.

We use the system primarily to manage payroll hours. It does not address any specific problems, every company has to do payroll.
  • Log for payroll.
  • Moving to previous dates in the payroll.
  • Employee details.
  • It is difficult to find specific reports, you have to know the system and where to look.
  • It might be nice to have a friendly tutorial for available operations.
  • I like to add notes to my payroll, it would be nice if it was easier to print up those notes and see the entire note. Sometimes the note is cut off. It would also be nice if I had room to write more detailed notes.
For our uses, tracking payroll is all we do. The other features are not as user-friendly.
  • We only use the payroll feature.
  • It has not affected our ROI, I've never used another system so I have nothing to which I can compare.
I have not used or evaluated any other system.
