Overall Satisfaction with Adabas

We use Adabas on all of our applications on our mainframe. It is used for a Payroll application and for a Foreign Trade application. I am not the Adabas DBA, so I only support them from the z/OS side. It seems to me that it is a lot less work to manage than other DBMS's.

  • Every time we want to upgrade our computer, the pricing for adabas is a big concern
Adabas uses resources better than DB2, but it doesn't use newer features of the hardware or operating system.

Would you buy Adabas again?

It's well suited for applications running on z/OS I wouldn't consider it for applications on other operating systems
