Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT

Blackbaud Financial Edge is our General Ledger and, as such, it is where we record every transaction and from where we generate all reports.
  • Reporting
  • Accepts several scenaria: actual, budget, forecasts
  • Provides financial information on each and every endowed donor fund
  • When doing a vendor search, the spelling, capitalization and punctuation have to be exact or FE thinks the vendor does not exist.
  • FE does not allow the GL code to be printed on the check stub. Sure would be helpful if it did.
  • I would like to see the notes we are allowed to enter into the system (i.e. reason for changing a forecasted number) be retrievable in a report.
  • We certainly have saved thousands of dollars on paper expenses. It is super easy to create a budget manager's report and then send it electronically.
  • I call BB FE the "bible" with a little "b". There is little need to rely on Excel spreadsheets when users can get data out of BB.
  • FE is linked to RE so Advancement and the Business Office can be on the same page.
BB FE makes auditing easier. If a donor wants a report of the history of his/her fund, BB FE can create one in moments.
We have not yet taken the time to create dashboards. This is on our "to-do" list for sure. Having a dashboard that showcases what each stakeholder wants to see will be super helpful --and will make the Business Office very popular!

Yes

I would certainly recommend it to any non-profit organization with annual revenues in the millions. It is less appropriate for smaller nonprofits due to its price point.
