Overall Satisfaction with Oracle ERP Cloud

Oracle Fusion cloud is being used across the organization for all business units. It addresses AP routing and approvals, JE Routing and Approvals, Supplier additions and updates along with requisite approvals. We also leverage the system for global and business unit reporting.
  • General ledger has nice dashboarding functions to allow management of approvals and pending journals
  • Account monitor function is nice and allows monitoring of individual accounts or hierarchy values to derive p&l
  • Dashboards and infolets are also very helpful in managing the entire AP process
  • Performance is not up to industry par
  • Applications are very buggy
  • Patching is problematic and introduces new issues
  • We are decentralized and the ramp up time for new associates has been problematic.
  • Performance issues have caused noise and slowed down efficiencies.
  • The adhoc reporting, hierarchies, and integration points have increased line of sight into our business and allowed us to get reporting out faster.
  • Dashboard functionality helps our managers keep on top of approval cycles and the close process.
  • Workflows have taken paperwork out of key processes as well as provided insight into where a particular item sits.
Well suited for large organizations with a lot of transaction volume with a centralized accounting function.

Decision Factors & Implementation

Yes - ERP Cloud was able to replace a number of home grown applications. Specifically in the area of BI related reporting we were able to leverage the OTBI tool to create daily reporting distributions and FRS books and batches for financial distributions.
  • Price
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
Pricing, Features, and Usability are the primary items impacting our decision with Price being king. We are ready to let go of a product, regardless of the features if there is a similar product that will met our overall needs. This is an ongoing concern with Oracle as they are not the cost leader....

Implementation, Adoption, and Customer Service

1) The proper partner is key.
2) Ensure your implementation team is well trained first. These are your champions, do not let them go out and train or talk about the software until they know it like the back of their hand.
3) Ensure you have strong functional and technical team members - these folks will be pushed to the limit after go-live.
4) Training..Training...Training... Ensure you train your field well and frequently.

A key part of our ability to survive the bumpy road post implementation was the establishment of direct support lines. We setup a number of web conference lines with our implementation champions to allow the field direct access to the team throughout the day. This alleviated a lot of issues as well as allow us to make adjustments where needed real time.
This has gotten better over the past couple of years. Still some room for improvement as Oracle moves more to an operations support model.

  • Invoice Scanning
  • Ability to multiple hierarchies for operational and financial reporting
  • Ad Hoc Reporting
  • Consolidated Reporting
  • Integration with Planning and budgeting
  • Looking to make more use of REST Services to integrate data with other sources
  • Leverage Invoice rules to assist with miscodes to business units
  • Automation of Invoice with suppliers.
This will always depend on renewal pricing and cost of support.

Evaluating Oracle ERP Cloud and Competitors

A few things we would do differently:

1) We would request Oracle build out a few sample reports to ensure full understanding of the report building process. Our executives had a different thought process of time and effort to build reporting.

2) Stronger product by product demonstration.

3) More in-depth discussions with implementation partner to ensure/reinforce there expertise.
