Act-On

If you have an existing CRM system, like Microsoft 365, you can integrate campaign automation with Act-On, and then it is worth most of the time it takes to get less-experienced employees on-boarded. In other cases that require more minimal use, the on-boarding may be too lengthy. In that case, it may be better-suited to choose a different SaaS that tracks campaign, ROI, lead scoring, etc.

Constant Contact

We use this to prompt reviews and reach to new prospects. Constant Contact probably wouldn't be very beneficial for warm leads or anyone that you need to send a lot of details to. New prospects are really the most ideal group because we can easily design attractive emails and see different analytics that will help us improve our marketing strategy.

Pros

  • Digital marketing campaign integrations, like Google Adwords, email tracking, other tools that track audiences, and website integrations like WordPress or Square Space.
  • The customer support, from what I've heard, is very good.
  • Integrations with other CRM systems make this really easy to add to a company's workflow.

Since they are partners, I believe they will continue using Constant Contact until the partnership is no longer. I don't think they pay for the Constant Contact services. It suits their needs so I believe they will continue to use Constant Contact. I don't see a need for them to switch.

Support

Since we start using Act-on for ourselves and our clients, we have been supported very well. Often we need to integrate with legacy systems and we find the support team on our side during the whole endeavor. Always asking if they can help us further, always willing to do a better job. The support of Act-On is one of the main differentiators

The support staff seems to have no idea of why/how files are uploaded into segmented lists. They don't seem to have ever actually used the software and it is very difficult to resolve any problems

Act-On had a lot of resources, and their staff was great at answering any questions I had to make sure we got started on the right foot. Looking back, I would have preferred some additional training sessions since we didn't have any previous experience with Marketing Automation and best practices.

Implementation is very easy for someone who wants to send out the “batch and blast” type newsletters. If you want to use their templates with no customizations, the product works fine. However, the more customizations you get into involving link color, etc, that’s where things can get tricky for someone who may not be familiar with coding

Alternatives Considered

As a company, it's much more organized, much more in contact with customers, and much more willing and able to pick up their feedback and incorporate it into the product. Pricing wise, it's also much more balanced, with a fairer price mode. It's also more agnostic, in terms of CRM and other integrations. The partner program is also clearer, and IMHO better.

LinkedIn is pricey and you can only send 10 Inmails for the price not really worth it at $59.99.

Very reliable in sending email campaigns and controlling the recipients so that no contact is sent the same email more than once, even if they are on a resent list

Return on Investment

  • We now know how digital campaigns perform.
  • Marketing is much more agile going to market and promoting specific messages.
  • We have a specific knowledge of where opportunities came from. How we converted them from anonymous visitors to leads, to customers.

  • Constant Contact has allowed us to properly track the success rates of our email campaigns to better improve our connections with the sales force and customers.
  • It has increased the volume of emails we are able to produce.
  • It has allowed us better targeting of our messages.
