    It is appropriate for relatively advanced external online community teams that have a clear sense of what they want to build. If you have a development team, this is the online community platform for you! It is much more flexible than other platforms. It is an excellent replacement for Jive-x external online communities (you can almost lift and shift). I would not recommend it for internal, employee social intranets or enterprise social networks because it doesn't have the file collaboration functionality and doesn't integrate with Microsoft 365 or Google Enterprise.

    • Intuitive interface that has been well received by a wide range of employees.
    • Ridiculously impressive moderation tools that have allowed a small community team to scale.
    • Strong analytics that allow community staff and stakeholders to make intelligent decisions backed by data.
    • Very strong search. Not quite Google good, but one of the best in platform searches encountered.
    • Out of the box interface is excellent and requires little customization to get going.

    • Mobile app is not very responsive on iOS. Sometimes connection to Hipchat servers is taking too long even on good networks.
    • Both mobile and desktop versions have no alphabetical or recent sorting for groups and chat rooms.
    • Video and audio calls are pretty useless, they're slow and not always work.
    • The whole user interface is simple but very outdated - apparently Atlassian didn't focus too much on Hipchat even though they tried in the last 2 years.

      The app itself had a pleasant if not generic interface. As a user experience expert and engineer I can say the interface is fairly intuitive if not bland. It does what you expect it to do and it's available on iOS and Android devices. If I recall it was generally pretty light weight in terms of installation size.

      Very usable once you learn some of the quirks - for example, when uploading a video you need to know it must be within a certain size limit or else the upload won't display, and if you upload it a certain way, then it will be a PDF even if you upload an Excel sheet. But once you figure out some of the nuances, its usability (ease of use) is very high. It is not a long or painful learning curve - just a matter of refining various use cases.

      HipChat support is good . Responds in timely manner when ever we have raised the request via email , phone and gives us continue update on the request .Though most of the questions are answered by HipChat FAQs , but they can still improve it and add more to the knowledge base .

      We tried a lot of chat clients before choosing HipChat. The Skype for Business UI on the Mac side was 5 years old and terrible. Mac users hated the app including our CTO. Cisco Jabber was expensive to license and maintain; Skype was open to the public which took time away due to users dealing with spam and could allow viruses and malware. HipChat being a closed product, centrally managed and available to try without an upfront investment was perfect for our environment. All our Agile teams have their own room, chat and can communicate with others quickly and easily.

      As stated in my opening, Verint fulfilled all of our business needs and has the most robust out of the box functionality. Many of the other platforms require heavy customization for design and reporting. Telligent has a full library of drag and drop widgets and a theme studio that allows community managers to design group pages and update their theme without having to be technically savvy. Telligent also hosts automation rules that can be written to leverage the APIs to automate community processes. Reporting includes: Community health, Top searches, Searches with no results, Active/Viewed Content, Active/New Groups, Member participation and several more

      Actually I never shared of HipChat using with more than 25 persons in team simultaneously, but I believe it can be scaled for much largest collaboration teams. At least it works flawlessly for us, with transparent integration with Jira, and I am not see any reasons for some troubles for work at big scale.

Having a light, portable messaging solution has been beneficial for checking in on small things without the need to send emails or schedule phone calls.

      • It has helped in growing and helping our eCommerce reach. Our company is in personal computers, mobiles and other electronics space which has a huge share of marketing which depends on word of mouth. As users engage more in the community and learn about the different devices we sell as well, they engage and let other members also know, including their friend circle, which in turn converts into business for us.
      • We are having huge issues with the language part of the community as our company is selling in almost every country in the world and the lack of proper language support in the community makes our platform difficult to grow in other countries. If they bring out new updates to resolve the issue of language, then surely this platform would do wonders.
      • We were able to host giveaways in our gaming and education communities which helped users pour a lot of interest into learning about the product and also spreading more awareness about it as well which has been very useful.
