SAP Lumira Discovery is a data visualization software solution that helps business users take full advantage of the massive amounts of data that is available to their business by using data analysis and data visualization capabilities. The data available in all major data sources (like MS Excel, csv, txt, and diverse database formats) can be put together in grids and graphs to create presentations, dashboards, infographics or business reports. Use Cases and Deployment Scope
SAP Lumira was mainly used in marketing to analyze potential markets and histories of sales. It was initially small exercises to learn the use of SAP Lumira, which were almost unnecessary because it was so easy to use, and beyond that was an actual analysis of data. We also used it for management reports and were able to use the graphics and features to make understandable charts and graphs.
Pros
  • Very user friendly and easy to understand.
  • Great interface.
  • Very high functionality; useful for any business seeking any information about their business or others.
Cons
  • The names of some features were fairly similar and took some time to differentiate and get used to.
Likelihood to Recommend
I think that businesses of any style and size can get great use out of Lumira.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope
SAP Lumira is a simple tool for data visualizations yet very powerful. I used it for data analysis( personal use). It was used to find the trends for sales in the oil industry. SAP Lumira was used to create a detailed overview of the data along with presentations. The overview of the data helped in quicker decisions and easy comparisons.
Pros
  • SAP Lumira has very easy to use interface which makes it very easy to use and it is a big plus. Also, the tools for data alteration are appropriately placed and you need not drill down for simple options.
  • Complete overview of the data on the PREPARE tab provides you with a very good overview of the data.
  • Dashboards can be easily created.
  • Dashboards can be easily created which are simple yet attaractive.
Cons
  • Creating custom measures in SAP Lumira can be made a little more user-friendly.
  • Automatically created measures by SAP Lumira can be made more appropriate.
  • More sample report types can be added.
Likelihood to Recommend
SAP Lumira is most fitted for the scenarios where extraction of information has to be done from raw Excel data. This tool can be used to create a nice and crisp overview, and graphs and thus helps in easy comparison of the raw data. It thus also helps in making quicker decisions.

We have used SAP Lumira for one of the SAP simulations for a diary product company. We have addressed the problem of making inventory and pricing decisions using this tool.
Pros
  • Able to access live data from servers
  • Ability to generate reports instantly
  • Variety of reports are available
Cons
  • Application is heavy and requires more space

SAP Lumira is well suited for business cases which require analysis of the data and making decisions based on the analysis. Scenarios which have huge volume of data that need to be analyzed are ideal scenarios.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope
I use SAP Lumira to teach BI students about data visualization tools and technology.
Pros
  • Visualization ease of use is an industry leader.
  • The ability to segment and create derived data sets is easy and straightforward.
  • Basic transformations and cleansing is easy to learn and use.
Cons
  • Flexible joining of data sets needs improvement (currently only one direction is supported making the use of this feature awkward).
  • Adding "targets" and thresholds to visualizations is lacking.
Likelihood to Recommend
SAP Lumira is really suitable for a heterogenous collection of data sources that needs to be mashed up into one simple presentation. It should not be used to integrated and cleanse data where significant work is required. As such, I see it as a strong desktop tool that compensates somewhat for immature or incomplete BI data sources.

Lumira is used by our organization for marketing & operations sales dashboards. Connecting multiple sources of data was easy. Creating different visualization that conveyed data in attractive formats enabled us to start utilizing the data in a matter of few days
Pros
  • Simplicity of prepare data, setup few visualization models and then creating a stoy board
  • Mulitple graphing & char options
Cons
  • More transformation options. For example connect 2 data sources, merge few attributes and create visualization
  • Need more data connectivity & ability to connect to good analytics or other commonly used data sources
Likelihood to Recommend
Simple easy to use drag & drop solution. Not very well suited for complicated data management & dynamic data
