Catalyst 2960X used as access equipment for our users
Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches
- Catalyst 2960 X/XR Series
The switches in our organization are used as a distribution stack for all users. There are Spanning Tree Protocols, VTP, AND PO Protocols, and they all operate without problems. It offers very stable equipment for operation, a basic routing configuration is maintained with access rules for communication to our distribution core switch. All of that has perfect functionality.
Pros
- Routing
- Troubleshooting
- Throughput
Cons
- Capacity in fiber ports
- Modules to change fiber connections
- Throughput for distribution
- Cost benefit: The team has been functional for a long time and has never presented any failures.
- ARM issues have never been used. It is very stable equipment.
Processes have been configured to optimize processes in the area. This includes the automated backups of each stack we have in our organization. It has saved us a lot of time with the optimizations of these processes. Virtualization capabilities have been used, issues has been discarded by the throughput of the team.
In our organization, optimization tools have been used for the control of access to the equipment. We have not benefited from this equipment's great capacity. Since they do not have it, we end up using them as access layer equipment and not as a distribution team. It is one of the improvements that could be made to this equipment.
These devices are used in my organization as access layer equipment. Tests were carried out on these devices with 3750 equipment and were not functional for large capacity issues. Therefore, stack batteries were removed and replaced with 2960X stack batteries, but only as an access layer because they do not have several capacities that we require for our organization.
