Overall Satisfaction with DraftSight

I use DraftSight to view/create 2D drawings for electrical design, woodworking, laser cutting, and machining. It is important to be precise when it comes to engineering design and tools such as ESnap in DraftSight help facilitate that precision. Recently, I was trying to create a specific shaped PCB and could easily sketch it out in 2D space with precision using command-driven tools. I can then save as a DXF file which is accepted by most of the other circuit design tools I use.
  • Intuitive interface
  • Cost-effective
  • Command-driven
  • More features than I'll ever need
  • Tools for precision
  • Variety of file types to save-as
  • Highly customizable interface that will take too much time to get perfect
  • Sometimes difficult to find the exact setting you need to change
  • I was a free user for years, which helped me build my skillset and business.
  • I first learned 2D drafting on AutoCAD R14 in high school, and migrating to DraftSight was seamless given that many of the same commands are supported.
AutoCAD alternative that does most of what AutoCAD does at a fraction of the cost.
