Considered Multiple Products
Airtable
Chose Airtable
Airtable is easier to use than Trello, less complex than Slack, and has great integration and better project management tools than Google Docs. For us, it is definitively a winner. We have very diverse projects and Airtable can handle them all very well. From events to special …
Chose Airtable
Airtable better organizes communication with clients than Slack. Communications with Airtable are task-specific and fall into the overall process.
Chose Airtable
There's a saying that spreadsheets were never meant to be databases, and Airtable provides the missing piece for nontechnical users who need to hear that saying. It's more performant and provides more custom view options, for example, than Excel or Google Sheets.

Retool
Chose Airtable
Airtable is as powerful, if not more than these competitors. It has a simple interface like Asana or Trello but has robust data functions and tracking of Jira or ShotGrid (now called Flow). While I haven't found it as profoundly integrated as Jira, Airtable feels much more …
Chose Airtable
I haven’t used any others but other teammates have researched and Airtable has the most capabilities and the easiest workflow automations.
Chose Airtable
When using SQL database, there was no simple way to create tables and fields. It took time and a dedicated database administrator to take care of the database and updates.
For Airtable, you can easily create tables and fields. Tables can be deployed within minutes. Data can be …
Chose Airtable
Airtable is more robust than Trello yet equally intuitive
Chose Airtable
Airtable vs. Asana: Asana is for task management; Airtable is for data management. The difference between the two is important. Asana is NOT for long-term data storage. It does have more integrations with other apps, but if you're looking for a pure database, Airtable is the …
Chose Airtable
Airtable is much more user-friendly and easy to navigate and update than Confluence. We still use Confluence as a wiki, but Airtable is used for all our day to day management.
Chose Airtable
While traditional spreadsheets provide a space to input information, Airtable actually makes it useful and easy to look at it, showing you only what you need or want to see at that moment.
Chose Airtable
Excel is only good for numbers, not words or relational database. Access is too complicated for a total novice to build databases from scratch.
Task trackers and project planners like Asana have limited functionality.
Chose Airtable
SAIC is a gSuite campus and Airtable is a very good companion to the gSuite. The Airtable gDrive integration is quite good and Airtable solves problems that gSuite simply does not solve. Though it does not replace them, Airtable also plays well with our Project Management …
Chose Airtable
There are 2 main competitors I feel, Google Sheets and MS Excel. Both are great for creating complex spreadsheets with complex logic and interlinking in between them, however, the speed of quickly creating process flows, data management systems and more in Airtable is way …
Chose Airtable
For us, the most important things to consider were the relational aspect (linking one record to another record) and the ease of use. We found Smartsheets clunky and unable to add relationships, and introducing relationships in Google Sheets or Excel was just too difficult to …
Chose Airtable
Airtable was a more affordable, more mobile, and more versatile platform. The options for future integration were greater for us with Airtable; the mobile opportunities give our Foundation flexibility; and since our team is based in several locations, the sharing and cloud …
Chose Airtable
We selected Airtable for the Calendar view and the grid view features. We like being able to link tables to one another, and we appreciate how collaborative the platform is. Airtable is able to display our data in a visually appealing and user-friendly way. We wanted to be able …
Chose Airtable
We've used (and still use in some cases) other Project Management platforms. Trello is fine but limited to Kanban-oriented projects. I personally love Trello but on in certain use cases. Airtable is way more versatile and has a Kanban view. Teamwork and Zoho are really in …

Box
Chose Box
Box is more professional when comparing other alternatives
Chose Box
Box is nowhere as deep as Google Drive due to the breadth of Google's ecosystem, but it is a self-contained mini-DAM that most will find works really well. The added bonus of built in Gmail sharing is a nice addition.
Chose Box
Simply put, having unlimited file storage is a clear differentiator. Furthermore, the number of integrations offered by Box is simply unmatched. If you are looking for pure document and file sharing, I don't think there is a better product on the market. The benefits from …
Chose Box
The unlimited storage with Box beats all the other options, along with the ease of sharing. With the other products, we found that we had the issue of having to clean up folders to make sure we had enough space to work with, and the ability to share links and files wasn't …
Chose Box
We have used Dropbox for a long time but we needed a secondary solution and that is when we started using Box. The features and benefits between the two platforms are very similar. If you are looking for team collaboration, Box offers a more affordable option. I appreciate that …
Chose Box
Box is just an alternative option, and if they offer competitive pricing, it would be worth exploring as they have great sharing features.
Chose Box
Box was superior to all of the cloud file storage systems I've used. It is easier to use, has more space available, and we rarely had any problems. Unfortunately, budget was the deciding factor that pushed us to a different product, but I have found myself wishing that weren't …
Slack

Chose Slack
Slack's UX is more 'fun'. It uses bright colors and fun verbiage to encourage communication with team-mates in new ways.
Chose Slack
We selected Slack because we are based on Google Suite and not Microsoft. It was a clear choice for us but it has been great using Slack because of the versatile integrations with Gmail and Google Drive. It is quick and easy to link to shared files and documents. Also, I feel …

Airtable
Airtable is an ideal platform for small and growing businesses to keep track of just about EVERYTHING they need to keep things running smoothly. It's a great way to keep tasks organized, and keep everyone on the same page with progress on all things. Our company finds the kanban particularly useful, as products go through a lifecycle from ideation to retirement, it's good to keep a database of what is in production, what's working, and what we've tried before. I can see the platform being challenging with much larger businesses, but for the small to medium businesses I've used the platform with, it is ideal.

Box
I think Box is great for research teams or anyone that has a large number of files that need to be securely stored. Particularly in the case of social science research, where it is important to protect identifying data, Box is a great option. In cases where teams need a more reliable means for real-time collaboration, I would probably consider a different alternative

Slack is great for tracking commits to new coding projects. You can take parts of code that still need to be implemented later and easily search through the history of comments if there is something that goes wrong with a code commitment. It can be difficult for people that only like Teams to adjust to a new platform if you are using both to communicate.

Pros
Airtable
  • I can create tables, create and customize fields
  • Airtable has capabilities commonly found in spreadsheet applications, but also has some of the features found in databases.
  • The ability to filter fields. I set up a filter on the status field, so when a project is marked, complete, on hold, or canceled, that record is hidden from my current projects table view. If it is marked complete, the record is moved to the completed projects table view. In this way I can easily access a record of past projects
  • Being able to duplicate tables and create alternate views
  • Collapse and expand records. When I collapse the rows, I can easily scan current projects, next steps, project status, and due dates. When I expand the row, or field, I can see more detailed information about that field or record very easily. I can also expand or open the entire record. This is is helpful, when I am entering a lot of information to multiple fields in that record.

Box
  • The main feature that I like the most in Box is that it makes collaboration seamless, workers can easily check the documents any time and make changes according to the needs.
  • Box manages and backs up all of your files on its cloud servers, and provides a very nice interface for creating, viewing, editing, and collaborating on the most commonly used file types (PDF, XLS, DOC, etc.).
  • Over the past few years, Box has built on top of its basic cloud storage management with a host of other tools, such as workflows, AI, monitoring, and analytics.
  • It is helping us to make good connections with clients and our workers themselves as to its syncing and viewing feature to all is very much helpful and easy to go.

Cons
Airtable
  • When records are deleted, there could be more options for what happens to associated records in other tables.
  • Multi-select fields should be sortable.
  • The per-user pricing model can be cumbersome when you need to share bases with third parties but can't use a publicly accessible URL.

  • Would love a better integration with GitHub. For example, notifications when your PR is updated, when review is requested, @-mention in comments, etc.
  • Improved "Later" tab, for example the ability to create to-do lists or making the "Later" tab into a more powerful to-do list (annotate items with notes)
  • More powerful integrations, e.g. Google Calendar could render a calendar view within Slack, rather than sending the daily schedule

Airtable
We will 10/10 renew the use of Airtable because it has brought great value to our team. Not only is Airtable affordable, but it's also user-friendly and helps our team be efficient. We no longer need to rely on Excel spreadsheets being passed from person to person via email. Furthermore, we aren't dealing with corrupt Excel spreadsheets and the need to salvage data when a file is accidentally altered.

I like the security features and I like the website. It's easy to use and create and move things around as needed. The main reason for a lower rating is because the Box Sync app is just not a good program. It's a memory hog, it's slow, transfer speeds are slow, and it's not the most efficient route. If you have a large Box account and you need to get a computer up to speed on a large amount of data within Box, you are in for the long haul. Last time I had to do this, it took 3 days to sync all of the files and we are talking around 100 GB worth of data

To be more transparent, I give 10 because Slack serves our collaboration needs. Usability
Airtable
IMO the usability of this product is its greatest asset. The UI is clean and the menus are intuitive to the point where I'd feel confident having a non-spreadsheety colleague take on building an Airtable for the first time with next to no training. I can't say that about every table-like software product that I've used such as Notion.

Everything with Box is seamless. It can be integrated into virtually any other software or application. You can even get the app for your phone or tablet to work on the go. File syncing is so quick. The only reason I gave it a 9 is the issue I discussed earlier about the local file application rebooting and not continuing to sync files. Other than that, it's great!

My rating was 7. Its intuitive interface and user-friendly features like channels, threads, and integrations make it excellent for team communication and onboarding. However, its usability is held back by the resource-intensive desktop app and cluttered feeling in large workspaces. The mobile app's performance and unreliable notifications have also been noted as weaknesses.

I found their support community lacking in clarity when I experienced a login issue. The error messaging was poor on my Box Sync application. I did not reach out to support staff for help, instead, I reasoned that I should try downloading the Box Sync application again and reinstall it. That fixed my issue, thankfully. I think a less computer-savvy user would've been much more frustrated.

Training all users was an important part of the implementation, which did take considerable time and effort. I like Slack better than ClickUp, because I would spend 30-60 minutes a day updating my ClickUp tasks. The way ClickUp was used was very micromanaging. I billed by the hour, so I was willing to put in the time to alert the boss what tasks I was working on.
One of my jobs used Hive - I mostly just ran it in the background in case anyone messaged me. I did not use it often.
