MobileIron is highly competitive against VMWare Airwatch. Although basic functionalities are quite the same MobileIron fits a little bit better to our business needs. This also implements a transparent license model with different packages (i. e. silver, gold etc.). We decided …

I have experience with AirWatch and Intune. The UI of MobileIron greatly outshines these two alternatives. Though the features of securing our iDevices are the same, the way MobileIron allows me to implement these configurations makes it stand out above the competition. We …
Chose Ivanti Neurons for MDM
Jamf is a great platform but does not offer the wide range of integrations. It feels like an Apple-centric product, and it is. Airwatch was pricier and did not offer enough compelling advantages when feature sets were compared, so it was hard to justify the additional cost. …
Chose Ivanti Neurons for MDM
I started with MobileIron so I feel as though I'm a bit biased towards them. I really like Jamf also, however they are best for environments that deal specifically with Apple products, where MobileIron can support any and all devices. AirWatch is easier on the eyes and …

I have used Airwatch and Azure(Intune). Intune provides a lot of features for Windows laptops which are missing from MobileIron.

Chose Ivanti Neurons for MDM
For us, the primary reason to stay with MobileIron is that we can do Device-based management. Intune, for example, only does user-based management.

I've been a user or admin of BES, Good Technology, AirWatch and MobileIron products over a span of 13 years. It feels unfair to compare them in a historical sense, as innovations were generally incorporated or copied into successive iterations of their products. For example, …

AirWatch allows for more functionality and better management. The GUI is intuitive and easy to manage. Very simple to enroll a device once the user is created. AirWatch allowed us to create group administrators. This is a nice function that the others don't seem to have. We can …

Chose Omnissa Workspace ONE UEM

AirWatch was an easy win after evaluation for the following reasons:

AirWatch is cloud based only, and while other solutions offered cloud based services, none of them provided a "full" product in the cloud with all available features like AirWatch does.

Chose Omnissa Workspace ONE UEM
At the time (2013), AirWatch supported more platforms than their competition. Not only could you enroll mobile devices and tablets, but you could also install an agent and manage both Windows and Mac desktops and laptops. They had a very nice collaborative sharing program …
Chose Omnissa Workspace ONE UEM
AirWatch was a lot easier to set up and manage devices, and the console functioned better for device management in my opinion. We also had difficulties with MobileIron in our test phase removing the profile and causing difficulties that required us to reset the phone.
Chose Omnissa Workspace ONE UEM
We looked at Good Technologies and Mobile Iron. At the time Good Technologies was cost prohibitive and on initial demo did not appear to be as intuitive as we would've liked. We did a complete trial of MobileIron and it offered the same features as AirWatch but also more which …

For devices that require single-app mode (iOS) deployments are easy to manage. We are also able to control which OS features are available at a very granular level. What is often lacking are good guides illustrating how to implement certain features - for example, setting up single-app mode for the first time is not intuitive and should not require opening service requests with the helpdesk.
The tools for remote support require a lot of effort and have made implementation of this capability a financial decision instead of a technical one. By this I mean that it's better to request budget for professional services than to invest mine or my team's time, which makes it far less likely to get implemented. Things that cost money and require justifications to the finance team are disadvantaged from the word go.

Workspace ONE Unified Endpoint Management is best suited for mid to large-size companies that require all the functions that it presents. It is a plus if you are well known with the VMWare "Horizon" ecosystem and use some of these solutions. It's to hard and resource intensive to setup and manage for small companies. Next to that it is to costly for only basic functionality compared to other solutions

Pros
Ivanti
  • MobileIron has a very easy to deploy architecture. We reviewed other products before making our business decision to deploy MobileIron, and one of the reasons we selected MobileIron was due to the ease of deployment, the low footprint, and the ease of configuration.
  • MobileIron has a broad range of customizations and add-on products that make it an ideal product for a number of additional use cases. None of these use cases got business backing at BH Media, but Docs@Work and Apps@Work are two features that would make MobileIron an ideal tool for a customer who needs to allow BYOD or company devices the ability to access documents or applications without VPN.
  • MobileIron is supported by a large number of devices and their operating systems. In a company which allows BYOD devices, you can't always control what device a user is going to bring in. MobileIron has support for older devices and OS versions and is also quick to adopt newer devices, so a new device isn't shut out in the cold waiting for a vendor to update their software.

  • Allows easy, comprehensive access to Apple products via web-based applet. (It does require customer input and cooperation.)
  • It allows me to resolve issues remotely, most times within minutes instead of hours, without a physical location visit.
  • It allows the customer to view my activity, giving them peace of mind that nothing untoward occurs during my interaction. I also use the record feature so all sessions are recorded, especially on rare occasions when there is an issue or question from the session.

  • Enrollment is a snap with many different options. This allows organizations with corporately owned or BYOD programs to bring devices under management in a flexible and scalable solution.
  • Deployment of apps-AirWatch makes deploying apps across your organization simple a quick.
  • AirWatch is usually close to "Zero Day" ready with major hardware manufacturers updated features. Many of the Android and iOS updated features are incorporated into the environments almost as soon as they are released.
  • AirWatch has great customer service. This was not always the case but as the company has grown over the last year in particular, I have been receiving better customer service compared to other MDMs.

Cons
Ivanti
  • Documentation is hard to find. Most of MobileIron's (MI) documentation can only be accessed through an MI account. This, in itself, is not a problem. The problem is locating specific information. Typically with other MDMs, a quick google search will point you to the location of the documentation within the official website. The way MI has their documentation locked down, I cannot find anything I'm looking for through a google search. Also, there were times documentation is locked by permissions and links provided by support are inaccessible to me due to these restrictions.
  • Sales - The sales team can sometimes come off as not genuine. I understand the purpose of sales is to sell and make money for the company, but the approach sometimes feels artificial; they say they have to company's best interest in mind, but the push for a sell like a car salesman.
  • Many of the automation options are not explicitly available into MobileIron Core. I have to use a special scripting language to make MI do the things I need it to do, such as automatically retire devices that have been inactive for 60 days.

  • The user interface is clunky and difficult to use in terms of CRITICAL functions that lie at the core of any remote access solution.
  • ctrl + key combos are currently terribly implemented and difficult to use - since this is one of the most common keys used in Windows - this presents MASSIVE usability issues that impede my workflow all day every single day.
  • And now - in a recent development - SHIFT + key combos are currently terribly implemented and difficult to use - since this is one of the most common keys used in Windows - this presents MASSIVE usability issues that impede my workflow all day every single day.
  • Things like frequently used key combos and shortcuts should work the same via remote access solutions as they do on a hardware keyboard. Anything else is an annoyance and an impediment to workflow and productivity.

  • On-Premises solution is very slow compared to SAS and which is causing many issues while accessing emails on a device, server management, contacts sync issues, Reporting issue
  • AirWatch Inbox application was very buggy and created a lot of issue in our organization and it seems no one is happy with the performance AirWatch Inbox is giving.
  • It is very costly as per analysis provided by Gartner quadrant and for a small organization or for small user base it is not that much suitable.

So far we have been very pleased with MobileIron and it has accomplished many of our goals. We are looking forward to continued improvements on Windows 8 platforms and Android PIM solutions. The only way that we would leave is if a solution came out that was better suited to work with Lotus Notes

I would say yes, we would definitely renew, everyone likes it in the IT dept, and there are more features we have yet to put to use. I am expanding the Windows update / Endpoint features as I get time, and the remote PowerShell console is unbeatable for me at present when facing remote computers that are not letting create a new remote PSSession.

We've used it for 3 years and our contract is up later this year. We own the licenses, but we would have to either renew cloud services or bring the services in-house and install on servers here. We may want to see what's new in the marketplace that could be just as useful and cost effective.

I have been using MobileIron for years. As with any company, they suffered the constraints of growth. I don't normally deal with call-in support, but in the few instances that I have the level of support has gotten inherently better. My usual support experience is from a dedicated individual(s) from professional services. This is mainly because of the size of the deployment. This offers a resource that is thoroughly familiar with your environment. Another benefit is that you can contact them directly, which eliminates the handing off and starting over with multiple individuals. As a company they are extremely committed in their support structure and making it better. They send out audits and welcome any interaction and if there is a complaint they follow up with efficacy

Ive used their tech support a handful of times, and each time they have been able to help me sort out any hiccups or kinks that arise. They have a resourceful knowledge base, and have experts available for training and troubleshooting. I often recommend them to my other coworkers and colleagues because of the ease of use and security

We've evaluated a number of other MDM solutions before finally deciding on MobileIron as our choice. These included AirWatch, Good, Citrix and IBM. None came close to the cost price point offered by MobileIron providing the same solutions. The initial setup/configuration was provided for free and training classes were exceptional. Other vendors did not offer the same level of support provided by MobileIron.

Go to offer all-in-one functionalities without compromising organizational security and policy. Go-to is versatile compared to other systems like JIRA and is suitable for medium organizations. It has all the support options required. Like web meetings, conversational ticketing, etc., other software does not offer the combination of all, like video calls.

Airwatch remains a leader in Gartner's Magic Quadrant and meets the data mobility needs of our organization. We are looking at moving to the cloud with Office365 and are evaluating the Intune/EMS/MAM/Rights Management suite. We have set up both Airwatch and Intune/EMS/MAM/Rights Management in a lab environment and have compiled some good comparison data and are looking to further evaluate these products. From our testing Airwatch has good integration with Office365 and is more feature rich and has more robust controls in both the MDM and Data Management/Security space. If someone is looking for a more simple solution without MDM and they are considering providing email and calendar access only Intune/MAM may be the way to go.

  • MobileIron initially was a positive part of our mobile stack. However after two years, we are exploring in-house solutions as Mobile Iron has not been stable enough for our needs. We had a MobileIron-related outage last year that took a week to resolve and cost our business substantially.
  • I believe MobileIron is more effective with Android devices than iOS.
  • MobileIron seems better suited to devices that need to be updated/managed infrequently (~ 1/week or less often). For tablets that need daily MDM interactions, MobileIron was not sufficiently reliable.

  • LogMeIn Resolve has increased productivity for our support teams with the addition of camera share. Not only are we able to remote into workstations, but with camera share we can utilize end user and customer phones to visually see physical setups to troubleshoot some situations on the fly.
  • Unattended support now requires the agent to enter in a signature key as an extra layer of security before accessing a device, which further improves the safety of all devices registered for unattended.

  • Cost happens to be an OpEx one, and even though it is not visible in ROI, when you calculate how much money represents data leak, information lost, users not arriving to attend customers, and more. The cost is giving you a return on customer satisfaction and continuity.
