Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT
I use Financial Edge NXT for accounting.
- It has robust filtering and search functions
- It's user interface is intuitive
- In my opinion, it's missing essential functions, like check printing, and multiple invoice payment with one check
- You still have to use the database for setup functions
- In my opinion, it is very annoying to not be able to directly print to our printer from the browser. Instead you have to export the report and then print like that.
- In my experience, the new updates make journal entries unstable. When you duplicate a line, it often leaves it checked and if you forget and check another one, you get extra entries you didn't mean to have. I end up saving every minute or so just to make sure my changes are saved.
- There are fields that are not linked anywhere, so there is a lack of functionality. For instance, you supposedly have the ability to upload images to invoices/vendors, but in practice, it does not work.
- The purchase order field can be filled, but there is no ability to actually -make- a purchase order.
- FE NXT is unable to be standalone. There are many functions that would require you to use the database version. As a user who exclusively uses it, I still have to rely on coworkers to do things in the database version for me. It cannot be marketed as standalone.
- In my opinion, it is unforgiving in terms of entry compared to software like Quickbooks, where items can be edited at any time instead of having to reverse journal entries.
- I find that the overall company lacks in customer service and timely responses. The implementation of the software here at our school was poorly accomplished, and any improvements and help that we have requested have always had significant delays.
- We've now begun to use Financial Edge NXT to create and transfer information to their Tuition Management software. It was difficult in getting it set up in terms of finding the right person from their company to explain it in a way we could understand, and initially we were told the wrong thing. However, now that it is set up, it is running smoothly.
In my opinion, it doesn't affect the donor or funder relations, because we disliked Raiser's Edge and do not use it. Being able to export information to an excel spreadsheet for double checking is useful.
We haven't really used the dashboards, so I can't comment.
