Overall Satisfaction with Checkmk
I use Checkmk to track changes on the network connected to our networking equipment. With thousands of network connections using Checkmk to manage them has made my life significantly easier. I am alerted when a port is disconnected or connected allowing a proper trace of the cable. Checkmk also has assisted me with monitoring all equipment attached to the software to ensure network quality is in check as well as device status. Very useful for servers for knowing if there is a RAID issue or disk issue.

Checkmk free version is far superior to PRTG free version. For the paid versions PRTG was more efficient and easier to use. Checkmk provides unlimited services on their free version while PRTG is limited. We like to use the free version to avoid monthly or annual costs while still utilizing the same SNMP features.

Using Checkmk
1 - SNMP monitoring. As the IT Manager I use this software on a daily basis. Mainly used strictly for IT dept troubleshooting and monitoring.
1 - Basic Linux skills are needed as well as using their Reddit page and searching through Checkmk detailed KB articles.
