Overall Satisfaction with CodeSignal

As a student, I've used CodeSignal as the online assessment for several competitive companies. It helps these companies outsource online assessments.
  • Prevents cheating on the device which is used for the assessment.
  • Gives instant feedback (score) to the applicant - for each question as well as the test.
  • Allows applicants to reuse old assessment scores.
  • Interview prep ( provides study paths and levels which is encouraging.
  • They can do a better job of ensuring that different assessments are of similar difficulty.
  • Interview prep ( is not as challenging or helpful as LeetCode.
  • Should let applicants know of the minimum score range the company will consider.
  • Should give more time if several hard questions are asked.
  • Should allow students to reuse old scores after they've done a new assessment and got a worse score (currently, if you don't choose the old score before the assessment, you must choose the new score even if it's worse).
  • Speed of giving results.
  • Proctoring.
  • Unique questions.
  • Helps me learn how to improve my code.
  • Challenges me to think quicker.
  • Failed assessments are discouraging.
CodeSignal provides proctoring. Also, it provides a single standardized assessment, unlike HackerRank. However, the difficulty of CodeSignal's general assessment can vary a lot, so it doesn't matter too much that it is a standardized assessment.

It is appropriate if: you want to give candidates challenging assessments, you want them to access a platform they're familiar with, you want to reduce cheating, or if you want an assessment with new questions that are not found elsewhere. It is not appropriate if you want to assess coding style. The score is based only on whether the code passes the test cases.
