Overall Satisfaction with Onshape

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Onshape as a 3d design tool. Because of the cloud nature of the software, I can use it anywhere, at anytime w/o the overhead of expensive hardware or an IT department. Software updates are done automatically and version updates and compatibility issues are a non-existent.

Pros

Takes advantage of hardware and software in the cloud.
Version and feature updates are seamless.
Collaboration with customers and design associates.
PDM is built in.

Cons

Not as feature rich as some established CAD programs.
Some features are so new and revolutionary they are are confusing.

Support Rating

Top notch support when needed. Extremely stable service, so little need for support. Very extensive learning library and user forums for additional help/support.

Implementation Rating

No issues whatsoever. As a cloud based solution, just log in. Everything happens in the background.
You have to remove preconceived notions of CAD.

Likelihood to Recommend

For me, Onshape is well suited for my work. I do not have a lot of extra money for yearly hardware upgrades. Incompatibility issues with different releases of software is not an issue as with other CAD packages. I do not need to uprgrade or downgrade software versions to work with clients. Obviously, connectivity to the internet is a must as a cloud based package. If unavailable or unstable, work/productivity can suffer.
