Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It's a solid device series I recommend to various clients. It can be as simple or complex as necessary, reliable, and a cost effective solutions for small to mid sized businesses. The user console is easy, installing certs and licenses is also easy to do. Adding WAPs or other devices is easy. The units are well made and can be rack mounted or stand alone (ideal for some smaller clients).

Pros and Cons

Ease of configuration. Easy to add WAPs, etc.
Reliable.

Ideal with smaller businesses. Would have to examine for more complex needs of larger businesses.
Scalability might be an issue for super large organizations.

Return on Investment

Saved money on implementation and administration staff.
Covered the sophisticated needs of many organizations.

Alternatives Considered

Looked at a variety of offerings from Cisco. For larger organizations, a good route to go. For smaller that need just a little bit more than residential equipment, or even to have the some solid performance and configurations (smaller businesses) Sonicwall is a great way to go. Some of limitations of WAP installs was a bit more challenging, but overall everything worked pretty well and easy to maintain in a cost effective package.

Support Rating

Cost, ease of use and reliability after implementation. It's a great and easy product to use to meet the needs of smaller organizations that want a more "legitimate" setup without going overboard or spending Cisco money. Great product. Can be rack mounted or stand alone. VPN easy to setup and update. A great product to start with and grow with in a developing organization.

Likelihood to Recommend

I feel it's great for smaller organizations with limited WAP needs and limited technology staff. It is easy to set up, has the settings you need for most configurations, can handle additional complexities as needed. The VPN licenses are a little pricey, but easy to manage and administer. Great product for the right organizations. If you have powerhouse needs, go with Cisco, but if not, this will be great.
