Pros

  • Allows for Various Taxability Fields
  • Long history of working with leases

Cons

  • Certificate Managment. Being able to use it to track exemption expiration and email customers to request new ones.
  • The sales and purchases modules should be sold together. It is very difficult to justify the purchases module but it would make the product more sticky and therefore the ability to retain customers would be greater.
  • Some of the processes within the system should be simplified. Try using Avalara or Thomson Reuters and you will see some of the clunkyness of Vertex.
  • Just implemented to too early to comment on
Haven't seen too many issues. More taxability matrixes would be helpful
The cost is a prohibitive factor. We are only implementing for leases. We implemented Thomson Reuters for other transactions because it is cheaper and the purchasing and sales modules cometogether.
it is functional but clunky
O series is more expensive and out dated.

Leases is the strongest point. T/R is still trying to develop theirs and Avalara just purchased a company.
