ADP Enterprise eTIME

Well suited for situations in which individuals may be largely self-monitored and need to log irregular hours for company records. Also well suited for situations in which individuals may hold multiple positions within an organization.

TimeCamp

For freelancers tracking time, it's a no-brainer. Makes it easy to track and know how much time was spent for each client. There is much more functionality available for companies and users of the many integrations that are available, but as a freelancer, I've yet to need them. For those seeking to look at the data, find trends, and explore opportunities, the TimeCamp reporting is super easy and helpful to accomplish this objective.

  • Easy time tracking with the Windows desktop app.
  • Time tracking management for editing and adding entries manually.
  • In-depth reporting with unlimited view possibilities.
  • iPhone app for tracking and viewing time entries.
  • Allows for computer activity tracking. Is helpful for fixing time entries, when I've incorrectly assigned my time.

Cons

ADP Enterprise eTIME

  • ADP Workforce Now and enhanced eTime do not work well together. Constant data flow issues between each system.
  • Chronic downtime.
  • Reports not matching between two different employees running it at the same time.
  • Tickets remain open for months at a time. When they identify the problem, they say it could be two-six months for a roll out patch.
  • You can no longer get a dedicated rep. When you have an issue you have to explain it over and over again.

TimeCamp

  • The name seems to indicate its connection with BaseCamp, but it's a separate company.
  • The desktop widget could look a little nicer.

Usability

ADP Enterprise eTIME

ADP Enterprise eTIME 5.0
Based on 1 answer
In some ways, the flexibility of eTime makes it much more usable than some time card systems. I can log my own hours at my convenience (as long as it is during the pay period), and eTime sends me a reminder email 24 hours before the cut-off for each pay period. I can log hours for multiple positions using particular pay codes, although there is no way for me to save frequently used or "my" pay codes -- adding this feature would be a much-appreciated improvement to eTime's usability. Juggling multiple pay codes within the current system, however, is cumbersome. There can also be problems if an incorrect or overlapping hour is accidentally entered and saved -- certain fields turn red and are difficult to adjust, often requiring the help of a software administrator. Correcting other errors and entering historical hours is extremely difficult, and the software does not work well on some browsers (and it is unattractive when I have been able to get it to work)

Alternatives Considered

We chose it because it works well.

I explored Toggl, and my financial software Harpoon (which I love) also provides time tracking. But, I've yet to have a strong reason to leave TimeCamp, and the alternatives I researched before choosing it were not as good. In a moment when I thought about switching, the value I get from the advanced reporting deterred me from doing so.

Return on Investment

ADP Enterprise eTIME

  • The system allows our employees to quickly record their time so that they can focus on their day-to-day jobs.
  • The system allows our managers to quickly approve time cards.
  • ADP Enterprise eTime does not have a sufficient query function to enable employers to easily create/schedule reports that the business needs. ADP charges high fees for custom reports.

TimeCamp

  • Tracking your time very easy with Timecamp.
  • The report function is also perfect, you can see your logged hours clear.
  • Automatically switch off should be improved because sometimes you might forget to move and program continue to count time.
