Considered Multiple Products
Constant Contact
Chose Constant Contact
Along with Constant Contact, I've also used Mailchimp, Klaviyo, HubSpot, and others -- but these are the main email tools I felt that it could compare to overall.
Chose Constant Contact
Mailchimp is pretty comparable in a lot of ways to Constant Contact, but Constant Contact just continues to win when it comes to deliver-ability and user-interface. It's clean, simple, and intuitive.
There are other platforms like ActiveCampaign and Klaviyo that have some …
Chose Constant Contact
Constant contact was perfect for our needs for many clients, it wasn’t overly robust, but powerful enough to see strong ROI. With regards to the competitor tools, amongst standard ESP there’s not a huge difference as they all essentially work the same, it’s just about pricing …
Iterable
Chose Iterable
Switched to Klaviyo for ecommerce. I've used HubSpot and Eloqua (now Oracle) for years before and found all of these other tools much easier to use than Iterable.
Chose Iterable
Besides Klaviyo which has native integration, and plugins with eCommerce platforms like Shopify, Iterable's integration capability is more robust compared to other platforms such as Campaign Monitor, Mailchimp, and Mailjet when a business is using Shopify. Iterable supports …
Chose Iterable
I admittedly don't remember much of Klaviyo, as I have become so familiar with Iterable. I definitely prefer Iterable, however. There are so many more features in Iterable and it just feels like a more dynamic and comprehensive experience with more granular data than Klaviyo
Chose Iterable
If you're still using SFMC do yourself a favor and explore some of the newer options available. Iterable is a strong competitor unless you need the B2B and account based marketing/support teams all in a single platform.
Klaviyo is great and best for small-medium size companies …
Chose Iterable
Iterable had the most robust personalisation features (handlebars, data catalog, snippets, robust segmentation) and multi-language support. Additionally, security features were higher than those of other alternatives. Close follow-up was Braze, and other platforms were compared …
Chose Iterable
We are still evaluating but the cost of switching has been the primary reason. In the past, other platforms have not had multi-channel messaging but that is no longer the case.
Chose Iterable
Iterable was more competitive in pricing, the segmentation technology was extremely advanced and fast in comparison with the competitors we analysed, and deliverability and reliability of the system have been fantastic.
Chose Iterable
Iterable has an easier UI, with a great educational center to be up to date on the product. Iterable also helps manage different locales in one template and create different projects to manage different databases. Lately, with the integration with Snowflake, will allow an easy …
Chose Iterable
We have been on Iterable for about 2 years and in that 2 years have evaluated other platforms, considering doing another migration.

The key reason we have stayed with Iterable is the ease of running (largely automated) omni channel comms with a complex data structure. We have …
Chose Iterable
The rich functions , flexibility, iOS and Android SDK integration, Cost and return of investment we find better with Iterable.
Chose Iterable
Iterable is generally better than many providers at handling large data sets and making them usable. Their workflow builder is one of the best, if not the best, I've seen and used. They also beat some other providers by having the number of channels they support and their …
Chose Iterable
The reason why I enjoy Iterable is that (1) they have an easy-to-use email builder, (2) their folder system makes finding campaigns more efficient, (3) their built on data which allows us to create highly dynamic and segmented campaigns, (4) they have a great journey builder …
Chose Iterable
When compared to Resci it actually seems less user friendly since it does not save our MANY template changes. Additioa lly setting up an AB Test as an experiment is not user friendly. I would advise updating list option to split audiences into groups. When compared to Attentive
Chose Iterable
Iterable provides support for all the platforms, unlike other platforms that we tried have limited support to cover various platforms
Chose Iterable
Based on the way that we send emails, we decided to go with Iterable. We loved the different features that they had. The main decision for us was the option of the catalog. We saw great potential for this feature and it has definitely helped us tremendously with our email …
Chose Iterable
Iterable is set up as a hub for connecting multiple platforms and it performs well in that scope
Klaviyo
Chose Klaviyo
Klaviyo is very user friendly compared Mailchimp, Privy, and Constant Contact though there is a learning curve for some aspects of it especially the automation aspects it is well worth learning the ins and outs of Klaviyo. We are pretty happy with Klaviyo which does everything …
Chose Klaviyo
For ecommerce, MailChimp and Constant Contact do not compare with Klaviyo. While their builders are not different, and the ability to create pleasing emails are similar, the targeting, segmentation, and data available are worlds apart. That said, I have not used MailChimp or Con…
Chose Klaviyo
Klaviyo is more robust that Constant Contact and AWeber, yet no less easy to use. It's also every bit as feature-rich as Active Campaign, but easier to use. (in my opinion) They're customer support isn't as good as Constant Contacts, but the tradeoff is a more sophisticated ESP …
Chose Klaviyo
Klaviyo compares favorably to other similar products but really stands out when looking at specific integrations. If you're running Shopify then Klaviyo makes too much sense when deciding on a CRM system. It's literally built to work with the Shopify platform and makes life …
Chose Klaviyo
We selected Klaviyo in 2018 when they were disrupting the space. They provided a lot of offerings for a value price.
Chose Klaviyo
Klaviyo provides much more insight into customer data than other email marketing software. For this reason, they are much stronger for e-commerce businesses as the data it provides is very beneficial for e-commerce businesses.
Chose Klaviyo
Better UI and functionality (segmentation, campaign builder, reporting)
Chose Klaviyo
Klaviyo is an excellent resource for aspiring marketers who want to be more data-driven.
Chose Klaviyo
I have used several platforms and by far the one with the most design features is Klaviyo. It lets you edit both desktop and mobile versions which is a must considering most people look at their emails on their phones. It is also great at segmenting and creating flows. I do …
Chose Klaviyo
Honestly Klaviyo is far better than the others. Having worked with others they don’t provide half of what Klaviyo does. Klaviyo provides better reporting, better analytics and helps us reach the customers we want to reach at all times. When you want to work and step up email …
Chose Klaviyo
Klaviyo is much more advanced than the other ones we evaluated. From the user interface to the triggers and segmentation. It also integrates with far more apps than the other two platforms. We are able to do some unique things with Klaviyo just because it integrates so well …
Chose Klaviyo
Klaviyo has been recommended to us by a customer who was working with the company for a month. The company who has recommended us to the service has reached the same conclusion - do not even bother with Klaviyo as on the other side of the screen there's a company you cannot …
Chose Klaviyo
We selected Klaviyo primarily for its e-commerce automation capabilities. It was the best platform we evaluated for sending out targeted and personalized emails and SMS campaigns based on Customer online purchase history and interactions with online products.
Chose Klaviyo
I've mostly used Mailchimp in the past for email marketing campaigns, albeit very basic ones. I did look into what options there were for automation, and there were some very basic options like transactional emails and welcome series flows, but there was very little …
Chose Klaviyo
Klaviyo makes a/b testing drip campaigns very intuitive to the average, non-technical user, which is something that other platforms fail to do. While more expensive, it more than pays for itself due to the ease of testing. You can test and deploy content faster and in a more …

Constant Contact
Constant Contact is an excellent tool for sending out flyers and newsletters. However, I feel the content's appearance is typically all the same. When I receive an email from Constant Contact, I can immediately identify it - the templates usually all look the same. When sending out communications with images, it is easy to use Constant Contact and link webpages. However, the email layout is always vertical and can get very lengthy. I prefer a more flip-book approach with options to flip the page.

- Scalability: as I mentioned, Stayforlong serves more than 3 Million travellers in 40 markets and 32 languages. We managed to build a robust CRM strategy with only 2 members on the CRM team, which helped us expand the channels with a really small, lean team. - Real-time relevance: for us, having the latest available offer is a must; we need to offer the rooms that are available in real time, because the inventory is live.

Klaviyo
Klaviyo is a must-have email marketing platform for any company using Shopify for their e-commerce websites. The best use case scenario is if all your purchases are coming from Shopify site and/or Shopify POS. However, if you use hybrid sales (e-commerce + sales reps), then Klaviyo can be leveraged only for your e-commerce customer segment. There is a workaround where you can manually upload the list of your offline customers to have a less personalized campaigns for them, and having ultra-personalized campaigns running for your e-comm segment. But note that this method will require governance from a team member who understands compliance and data architecture as it will require regular database clean up and understanding how exclusions work.

Pros
Constant Contact
  • Market segmentation is great: my main segmentation is by region because that's how our sales team is divided.
  • Lists: making customized email lists is easy and intuitive; the custom fields allow some flexibility in case our fields don't exactly line up with Constant Contact's.
  • Campaigns: creating campaigns is quick and simple. I especially appreciate the 'resend to non-openers' option. I am constantly using this feature.
  • Subject line generator: I like using the recommended subject lines. I'm able to plug in their recommended ideas, or sometimes, this feature helps me generate my own ideas.

  • Customer Journey creation - the platform easily creates a visual path for the marketing team to curate messaging based around timing, channel, behavior as well as add split testing logic and exit criteria so we target only the audiences we want.
  • Customer Success - one of the best teams I've ever had the pleasure of working with. I'm able to move so much quicker because they really create a helpful partnership.
  • Audience segmentation, the platform is easy to work with even if you're a first time user, they do a great job of visually showing the logic and the and/or/none type rules.

Klaviyo
  • Very easy to setup Klaviyo with Bigcommerce for email & SMS capture, comes with templates that are simple to edit and publish.
  • Very easy to set up Klaviyo with other 3rd party apps like Yotpo Reviews and Loyalty, giving you easy access to send emails based on loyalty points or asking for a review.
  • Automated campaigns are a breeze! They come with preset templates to get started quick. Including a Welcome Series, Cart Abandonment Series, Lost Customer Series, and Browse Abandonment Series among others.
  • The platform is easy to navigate and use without having to spend time learning from videos or help files, we were able to just jump right in and use it.
  • Great features like targeting based on anything available in your data, including products purchased, loyalty standing, interactions, etc.

Cons
Constant Contact
  • It would be nice if we had more customizable options for emails - like moving around pictures and text boxes, rather than a set spot for everything to go.
  • I would like it if multiple people could work on a document at one time. So if I'm in charge of graphics, I can get those updated while someone else is entering content, etc.

Iterable
  • In-app channel, although it works, has some shortcomings in UI functionality or system backend logic, which suggests it is built on an email send-out architecture.
  • Drag and drop editor has its own limitations - it isn't perfect. You can't create some basic designs.

  • At times the platform isn't as intuitive as you would like. Take the time to be onboarded and play around in the platform to get the hang of things. Utilize Klaviyo's resources and attend their live training sessions to help navigate the platform and implement best practices they recommend.
  • Can be pricey depending on company and email list.
  • Customization is limited at times. The brand font we utilized on all branded content wasn't available through Klaviyo. Previously we would have to go through the back end to implement our branded font, import our font, or create content on another platform to utilize our font.

There is no doubt that we are going to renew Constant Contact. We have not just invested a lot of time in learning and creating a great looking product but we have developed a strong database of information that allows us to track how we are doing for each newsletter. Klaviyo is simply a great solution for e-com email marketing & customer relationship management:
  1. User journey visibility: We can see our clients' customers on their individual user journeys (open email, site visits) to better understand and accommodate your customers.
  2. Flow automation: Creating automated emails that follow up with new leads, those who abandoned carts, purchased.
  3. Email design: So easy to use, and more friendly than some other visual builders that we've used.
  4. Metrics visibility: We can see our clients' metrics very easily and adjust efforts accordingly.

Usability
Constant Contact
There is always room for improvement. I don't know how they test their systems, but they should invite not-so computer savvy people to test it. If I, as an expert have problems, they need to think like the technophobe. Since I've used Constant Contact in the past as part of my former employment, I have not viewed any of the tutorials and just jumped in to work on my client's newsletter. With that said, I found some areas easy and some a bit cumbersome

The only reason why I did not give it a 10/10 is that it cannot distinguish purchases that came through subscription recharges instead of purchases that were driven directly by email sends. Other than that, the automation qualities, design features, and segmentation options make this an incredible email platform, and I am very happy with it

Iterable is there like 99.9% of the time. However, when it goes down, it grinds us to a halt. Most of the time, outages are an hour or less, but if that's at a peak time, it can be a nightmare. That said, when the worst does happen, there are frequent updates and an easy situation tracker that give you an estimate of how much longer you'll have to wait for the issue to be resolved.

Constant Contact
I think the overall support for Constant Contact has always been incredible; I have nothing negative to say. Our customer support representative was attentive, easy to understand, and very knowledgeable. I've never experienced any issues with Iterable. As I and my colleagues have learnt the system and it's features, response to questions and advice from our account manager is always quick. Constant Contact
Implementation is very easy for someone who wants to send out the “batch and blast” type newsletters. If you want to use their templates with no customizations, the product works fine. Alternatives Considered
Constant Contact
Constant Contact is much more intuitive for people who are not tech-savvy. Also, while sendgrid offered more options in it's drag and drop interface, it displayed differently across different email clients, which made it very cumbersome to use. It also took much longer to upload contact lists and it was harder to manage existing contacts. Performance in sendgrid was much slower as well, and the Preview feature was quite buggy. Our team initially chose sendgrid because of the integration options that it's API offered, but we ultimately switched to Constant Contact because it was much easier to build campaigns and better suited our requirements.

My understanding is that Mailchimp has evolved a lot since we moved to Iterable 4 years ago, so any comparison is legacy. Keeping that in mind, Iterable is far more sophisticated, especially the journey builder, personalised STO by user and segmentation.

Klaviyo is leaps and bounds above Mailchimp. We just switched from MailChimp because we outgrew it. That is actually my recommended path to take while starting out. MailChimp had a free plan up to 5000 emails. Once we hit that, we switched and got an email marketing team and grew from there.
