Network for Good was what we needed as it combines several different services in one easy-to-use platform, including donation management and email marketing. However, the change over to Bonterra has not been great. The customer service has gone down and they've changed terms regarding our contract, without our approval or signature. Overall, I am very unhappy with Bonterra and won't be renewing with them.
  • Customer/donor management
  • Training is too drawn out
  • More information on the details of transferring existing contact information
  • Customer service is slow and poorly done.
Bonterra has taken a decent platform and completely destroyed it. It is not suited for any nonprofit as it is expensive and they don't treat their clients with respect. They sell your information and refuse to assist when issues arise.
  • Email platform
  • Ability to accept credit card donations
  • Decreased usability of platform until we submit to their requests outside of our original contract.
We had been using Benchmark for emails but had only utilized the free version and we're needing to begin paying the $35 a month for upgraded services. We had also been using Flipcause, but paying ~$1800 a year to accept online donations wasn't working for us. We needed more services to be provided if we were going to pay that kind of money.

The Executive Director manages the people using the platform and uses the platform to create content, manage donation campaigns, and more.
  • Monthly newsletter
  • Online donations
  • Forms for getting new contact informtion
  • Thank you letters to donors
  • Explore text to give opportunities
  • Text to give
  • Online auctions
We are still learning and rebuilding our nonprofit using this platform, so this year is a trial run to see how we can increase our network and our donations. So long as we are able to see a significant return on investment in terms of donations received through the platform, we will renew for next year.
Bonterra customer service is slow and terrible. They take forever to address the actual issue, constantly making incorrect assumptions about the issue. I have spent more than 45 minutes on hold, just to speak with a customer service representative when the chat function was unable to provide assistance with my issue.
I was unaware that premium support was an available add on but I probably would not have purchased it anyway as the base cost of the platform is quite expensive.
No
They have never provided me with exceptional support.

I use it to streamline donor management and communication. The agency's previous database was outdated and restrictive, there was no easy way to view trends and lapses. The last person in charge did not believe in email, so there were no email addresses attached to donor records and no way to communicate with them other than snail mail. There was lots of wasted effort and paper, which no longer happens using Network for Good.
  • We imported the last six years of data and were able to reach out to people who hadn't been contacted in that amount of time (thank you, "Lapsed Donor" indication), reviving the relationship and receiving new donations.
  • It's so easy to dash off a quick personalized thank you to event participants when they buy through a NFG link -- we don't generally send individual thanks to people who purchase tickets since they don't always purchase through us, so it's nice to be able to do that easily when they do.
  • I'm a visual person so I appreciate the graphs and charts--they are gratifying!
  • I wish there was a field where I could enter a main contact person for an organization without that person having to already be an individual contact-- some of these organizations change responsible parties all the time
  • It would be nice to be able to merge campaigns. I had created one and entered some donations manually. Then I imported a bunch more and named it the same, assuming they would go into the existing campaign. But they did not, and I ended up with two campaigns of the same name, had to move them all manually and then delete the one I had emptied.
  • I'm not crazy about in-kind donations values being lumped into funds raised, since we don't actually realize the dollar value on many of those.
I love that donors can be categorized in more than one way. For instance, at my old job donors could be only one "type." It was a school and church, and I personally fit three different profiles: alumni, parishioner, and current school parent. But I could only be classified as ONE of those things. The agency where I now use NFG also has people that fit more than one profile, so it's nice to be able to categorize them in every way they fit.
  • Ease of use
  • Information always at the ready
  • Communication tools so we don't miss thanking anyone
  • Since we just started using it, I can see where this will help next year. Like we set our Giving Tuesday goal at $5000 and exceeded it, so next year we may set the goal a little higher
  • We like the ease of using the campaign pages for our donors, and they seem to be more willing to go that route than when we used a separate PayPal account since it's all tied in and recognizable
In my experience with it, ParishSOFT restricts donors to one category, so you cannot enter them as more than one Family Group, even if they belong to multiple (school parent, alumni, parishioner, etc.). So we generally had to mail to all three lists all the time so as not to miss anyone.

The Executive Director mainly uses it for reporting functions to the Board of Directors. The Communication Director uses it for donor management, communication, donation acknowledgement and thanks, etc.

Familiarity with all the forms and functions of Network for Good are necessary. I (Communication) absorbed all the materials when we first onboarded and know my way around fairly well. When I am uncertain, I explore the Help feature.
  • Tracking donor habits and patterns
  • Seeing who is marked "lapsed" so we can do extra outreach to them
  • Quick acknowledgement and thanks
  • An easy portal for selling tickets to events
  • Maybe the auction function someday
There are a couple of snags that could be fixed, but otherwise it's a dream!

I have met with a coach to help and support me in fundraising for our organization. Explaining and training positive usage for the program and the benefits for our organization.
  • Increase donation for our annual Gala.
  • Build relationships with new supporters.
  • Importance of holding and building strong relations.
  • Possibly explain a little more on the front end of the plan. I was a little confused as to what I was getting involved in. But I do enjoy it.
When i met with my tech contact Cory he was very knowledgeable and took extra steps to help.
  • Building and keeping strong relations with our partnership and sponsors.
  • Video messaging has been very helpful to bring more inverters our way and has raised over 60% more in donations at our last event.
This was beneficial during COVID to reach many people and continue to show faces to others :)

  • Ability to check on fundraising/donors regularly
  • pull reports easily
  • event pages are slick!
  • Our reps are awesome to work with!
  • Quick response

My organization uses Network for Good for donor management. The program is used throughout our organization. Network for Good resolved the issue of streamlining donor data enabling us to have a concise look at donor information. It has also enabled us to retrieve a comprehensive overview of donor retention, donor profile, and provides easy sorting functions to find applicable information regarding our donors.
  • Sorting functions to segment donor information
  • Task lists to keep people on track with donor outreach
  • Group Emails/Texting/Video to reach keep in touch with donors
  • Quickbooks integration
Network for Good is well-suited to be a comprehensive donor management system. It is less appropriate to use in terms of accounting or getting an accurate overview of how your organization is doing financially although it can give you a round-about idea.
  • Donor information storage
  • Sorting features
  • Group Emails/Texts/Video Messaging
  • [Network for Good] helps my organization save time in terms of donor management by organizing the data efficiently in one place.
  • [Network for Good] has grown my organization's ability to effectively communicate with our donors through various channels.
  • It is important for my organization to track many different donor details. The program is very customizable.

[Network for Good] is highly customizable.
I would ask more about product integrations.
  • Implemented in-house
Yes
There were four phases of implementation: Purchase, Data Migration, Training, Implementation
  • Data Field Explanation
If an organization can afford it, having [Network for Good] do the data migration will save time.
They have office hours, videos, and chat capabilities.
No, we didn't purchase premium support. I don't know if that exists, but if so, it's unnecessary because the support [Network for Good] provides is premium anyhow.
No
Each time I have contacted [Network for Good] for support, the answers I receive are always satisfactory to address my problem. There are times, a feature I'd like isn't available and the support team always sends a product request to see if my suggestions can be written into the program sometime. To me, that's exceptional.
It's very easy to use and customizable.
  • Data storage

  • Donor communication capabilities
Yes
