There are options to allow for sharing reports, dashboards across teams and projects along with the ability to make sure if others are allowed to modify/delete it. So, all in all, Dundas BI is pretty sound in there. Also, there are security measures on an individual level making sure that unauthorized users are not able to view those reports/dashboards.

The authentication and authorization are very versatile! You have the concept of groups and users, permissions by application features! You have various forms of sharing content: Excel worksheet, image, pdf and powerpoint. You can collaborate with other application users using data point annotations that can be viewed and commented by them!
In DBI 4 there has been an improvement in the ways you can authenticate with the introdution of Federated Authentication.

Very easy to setup permissions so that users can share reports and dashboards. Security allows for a level of granularity though we decided to restrict it by projects to keep the maintenance of this down. As with many BI tools, the most difficult part of collaboration is getting business users to opt in to using it.

I have not fully utilized the share capabilities of Dundas as of yet. We do have some download table as Excel file being used (there was an issue but talked with support and found out it was already being work on as a fix in next release, we got it and now it works great). The other share is download chart as a picture so they can put it in Powerpoint (they do that instead of download as Powerpoint so they can insert a picture into our Powerpoint template slide that has the company logo and title area). I gave it a 9 only because you have to learn what some of the options do in the download process they all are not 100% intuitive, at least to me.

Reporting is completely customizable and so with a knowledgeable IT team or staff capable of programming you can really create whatever types of reports you need. They have pre-programmed reports, graphs, and charts that are user-friendly and can be quickly accessed and shared among users.

It is easy to share the report output and we can even easily schedule the reports. There is one issue that needs to be fixed while exporting the data - it doesn't keep the timezone of the current browser. It changes to the server timezone in case you are displaying the timezone in your report. I think they have fixed this in upcoming versions.

Dundas offers many ways to push dashboards and reports to users. These include standard web-based dashboards and export of PDF, PowerPoint, etc. Notifications can also be scheduled. Users can collaborate with notes on reports/dashboards to ask/answer questions. It's also offers the ability to include non-data driven content (e.g. images and text content) to dashboards so all types of reporting can be displayed on a dashboard.

Full versioning with rollback capabilities are available in the data cubes, dashboards, scorecards, etc. There is also the ability to leave full comments on changes that are checked in as well as noted in the dashboards themselves that other users can see. Collaboration and sharing work has been easy for our teams without adding a lot of procedures and business rules around working in Dundas.

Dundas allows to export the report (out of the box) to multiple formats like excel, PDF, image, PPT and also allow to share the dashboard with other users who has access into Dundas BI. it also allows the annotation features where people can have real conversations on specific data point on specific charts.

This is 100% a data sharing tool. By easily allowing folks to create data visualizations in an HTML5 format, it pretty much makes sharing and collaboration about as easy as it can get. Throw it out on the internet and you can share with the whole world. All that is needed is a device with an HTML5 browser. It can also be used on smart phones, tablets, watches, car navigation systems, etc. There is really no limit to how you can share this data. The built in security options coupled with your already existing security tools gives you the ability to limit and grant access at a very granular level as well as use the tools and standards you have already made investments in.

This is one of the weaknesses. It's difficult to share and collaborate dashboards as they are being designed. The security and development paradigm used makes permissions and sharing difficult at times.

That said, once the dashboard is created, distributing point-in-time reports and allowing access to specific reports is straightforward and effective.

Again, this is where the flexibility of DBI comes into play; users can add notes, respond to other user's notes, get notified when a note is added, schedule delivery of reports or dashboards based on a pre-defined schedule or based on a data threshold...flexible.
