Overall Satisfaction with ApptioOne

We were in need of a forecasting tool to replace an archaic spreadsheet process. ApptioOne filled that need, allowing over 100 users simultaneously to review and update forecasts with greater accuracy and simplicity. The abilities to quickly review past month's spend, project labor and nonlabor spend for future months, and to used named resources for labor are outstanding. As a manager of ApptioOne and Forecasting this tool has helped provide simplicity and organization to a process involving lost of people.

We currently use many of the features that allow us to daily ingest database and spreadsheet info (financial and other) into ApptioOne and flow it through a model. Sad to say we use dozens of spreadsheet imports still along with many formalized Oracle and SQL Server database pulls directly into Apptio TBM Studio. Manual integrations would be very painful, but ApptioOne makes these simple and easy to automate. We also use great features to pull finalized data via APIs for in-house reporting.
  • Visibility and customized reports have allowed us to run ad-hoc analysis in a fraction of the time it previously would take to pull together all the data needed.
  • Our ability to manage shared resources and view and project work allocations to projects has increased dramatically.
  • Our monthly forecast process has reduced to days rather than the constant throughout the month updates previously done.
The ApptioOne support teams have been great to work with! Very professional and dedicated to making sure we are taken care of. When issues arise, getting the right people involved is quick and efficient. They provide regular updates and visibility as they support our needs. There have been a few times in the past year where a larger issue than just our environment was impacted, and those issues took longer to resolve and didn't have quite the same communications prior to resolution.

ApptioOne is really good at showing current spend, budget, forecast in quick and easy to understand tables or reports. The forecasting pieces of the ApptioOne IT Planning module allow you to quickly review and see past month's spend right next to future projection. You can easily do the review and edit future forecast all on the same screen. Some of the data associations and automations could be improved, such as integrations with external reporting systems and pulling in hours actually billed to projects. It also does not excel where budgets are not month over month.
