Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT

We use Blackbaud for Accounting and Advancement (Financial Edge/Raiser's Edge). I believe the product causes more problems with our business than it corrects.

Pros

  • In my opinion, there is really nothing that NXT does well. That is why we are still using the Database view.

Cons

  • The NXT version needs to be have the same functionality for AP.
  • The NXT version for the AR module is nonexistent.
  • The Student billing module is being discontinued as of Aug 1, 2022.
  • We do not use NXT we use the database because of the limited capability.
  • It looks nice but to be functional you will have to switch to the database version.
  • The negative impact is that it has not sped up any processes that we use because of the aforementioned issues.
  • The amount of money we spend on BB is better used on a more flexible and user-friendly accounting system (Oracle or sage).
We didn't, the only issue with Raisers Edge is they do handle donor management.

There are really no scenarios that I can think of that Blackbaud Next should be used. If I had my choice I would move to another vendor.
