Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT

We use Financial Edge for all of our accounting needs except for our donation receipts are put into Altru and then imported into Blackbaud. FE is not the most user friendly, but it is effective in record keeping and reporting options. I send out a lot of expense reports for various grants, projects, or events. I like how easy it is to filter financial statements with just the relevant information.

  • The user interface is very old fashion looking
  • A new user would probably have a hard time getting adapted to where all the functions are
  • I don't like having to post recently paid invoices to get the bank statement to reconcile

  • It costs slightly above average other software
  • I am able to quickly get specific information or detailed reports
QuickBooks is easier to use and has a better look. I does not perform as well as FE on the actual software side. FE seems to be able to handle large amounts of data better than QB and its reports feature is much better than QB.

Yes

I think FE handles large quantities of data/information well. Any industry that has the need for expense tracking on multiple projects can find the system's reporting options helpful.

I don't think a small straightforward business would need all the options that FE has.
