Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT

As a system admin, I don't have much interaction with Blackbaud itself outside of setting up and managing users and occasionally troubleshooting issues. I honestly don't know a whole lot about what it is. All I can say for sure is that our Finance and Business Development departments use it extensively for donation campaigns (Raiser's Edge) and financial management of some sort (Financial Edge). I don't interact directly with either product so I can't comment on their uses for us specifically beyond that.
  • Honestly, nothing. Our users hate it. It's slow, buggy, overly complicated and is constantly down for maintenance during the business day.
  • In my experience, our users hate it so much, we're trying to disentangle ourselves from it so we can go somewhere else for our needs.
  • The problem with disentangling ourselves from it is that since the systems are so proprietary, extracting our data from it is exceedingly difficult, no doubt as intended.
  • I have no specific examples I can cite, but as I said, our users hate it overall. There are a LOT of missing features.
  • They have this old version of Financial Edge and Raiser's Edge that runs on Citrix on some old internal domain of theirs that has way more functionality than NXT.
  • In my experience, their legacy systems are very unstable, crashy, buggy and extremely slow. There is good reason for them to decommission that old system, but NXT was taken out of the oven WAY too soon. It needs a few more years of development.
  • I really couldn't even begin to answer this question.
  • As someone in IT, this is beyond the scope of my job.
  • I guess I could say it's overall negative on ROI because of the time we have to spend troubleshooting it and the time our users waste on problems.
I have only ever worked with QuickBooks Enterprise and Blackbaud. One of our departments uses QuickBooks for their accounting. They're a bit of a unique oddity within our company, but they have their reasons for doing what they do. As for how QuickBooks stacks up, well... our users never complain about it, so that puts it above Blackbaud. That said, I'm not absolutely thrilled with Intuit process for upgrading their software. In any case, I'd fully move everyone to it and away from Blackbaud if I could, but it doesn't have all the functionality we need, so that won't happen.

Do you think Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT's feature set?

No

Did Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT again?

No

In my opinion I can't even imagine what it's good for. Again, as a System Admin, all I ever see are the problems. I don't interact with the software directly so I don't even have a good understanding of what it does. All I know is that it's used for charitable donation management (Raiser's Edge) and financial... stuff (Financial Edge). All I ever hear are complaints and problems. So a scenario in which it's well suited? I guess if you have extremely basic, simple needs. Where is it less appropriate? If you need a functional product. Stay away.
