King of Switches - Cisco Catalyst 1000 Series Switches
Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches
Cisco Catalyst 1000 Series Switches are mostly used to get a large number of devices connected in a single network. They are used by a few departments which require a large number of devices in a single network as they have [a] lot of ports. I have only faced an issue once with this switch where lag interface was frequently going down; [otherwise], it is always great to work with Cisco switches.
Pros
- PoE+ support
- Great management support via Bluetooth, SNMP, RJ45 or USB console
- Good CLI / web UI manageability
Cons
- The switch should support dynamic routing
- The switch with 48 ports is not fanless
- Switch should support auto-bays on console port
- Positive: Easy to deploy
- Positive: Easy PoE setup
- Negative: More costly as compared to other brands
Cisco switches are easy to manage as compare[d] to Juniper. Also, it provides premium support in case if you have any issues.
