Overall Satisfaction with Cronycle
Cronycle has provided the research team (of around 30 members) that I oversee with the ability to
effectively collaborate as a collective and has enabled us to work much more
efficiently. The platform has given us the tools to improve our information
gathering and sharing and has empowered our team members with increased
awareness and insight into their colleagues’ sources of information and areas
of research interest. Researchers, based in India, can check their feeds each morning by pinning articles to boards (this
enables everyone to share and store information much more easily and more
quickly). Tagging and commenting on articles provide effective ways to convey
important details about pieces of news to any other member of the team without
the need to maintain separate systems, or to get bogged down using other
methods of communicating (such as email). This is particularly helpful as for
at least half of the working day our teams in the UK and India would not
overlap in-office hours. Being able to sort or filter both feeds and articles
pinned to Boards by a number of different criteria also helps our users to improve
the relevance of the content that they are looking at.

Pros
- Fantastic options for filtering content stored on Boards.
- The Clipper is one of the most useful tools I have ever come across and is vital to our workflow.
- Extraction of content from Boards to multiple formats.
Cons
- One small piece of missing functionality is being able to select specific boards to search across. Currently, it is one or all, but an option to select 5, or 10, or 150 would be ideal.
- The Clipper.
- Ability to put Twitter handles into a Feed.
- Filters, both keywords on Feeds and the plethora of options on Boards.
- Board exports.
- The team is more efficient in how it operates.
- We can do much more with the same number of team members.
- We have been able to track via the metrics how many times over the course of a month/year a certain type of piece of information has been surfaced and updated (government ministerial or ambassadorial appointments would be two of the most important ones to us). We have seen these numbers grow significantly, and this benefits our subscribers who rely upon us to have the latest information.
