Organization with High-Volume Seasonal Hiring
Overall Satisfaction with Ceridian Dayforce HCM
Dayforce HCM is used across the whole organization for payroll, benefits, tax services, and HCM. We use the Dayforce Workforce Management module for scheduling and timekeeping. We have a very diverse workforce with employees in production facilities in the lower 48 states as well as remote areas of Alaska and on fishing and processing vessels in the waters of Alaska, Washington and Oregon. We also have a highly seasonal workforce as production varies with various fish and crab species seasons throughout the year.
Pros
- Integrates with our recruiting system for high volume hiring
- Mobile Application
- Benefits ACA Year End Reporting
- Custom configuration and parameter based set up that we can modify based on changing business needs
Cons
- Reporting has some limitations and formatting issues, we are looking forward to the new reporting system coming out in the next few months
- Dayforce does not support the methodology we use for benefits eligibility for seasonal employees under PPACA
- We'd like to see faster turnaround times on our support tickets and change requests
- Employee and manager self service has increased productivity in payroll, HR and operations.
- Web based open enrollment has been very effective and saved a lot of time for our benefits department.
Payroll preview is good but not always accurate if the system has not been refreshed and other off-cycle runs or changes have not been processed.
Dayforce has excellent functionality and allows for a large amount of complexity in scheduling and overtime rules.
We are not able to use the ACA management functionality, it does not support the methodology we use for determining eligibility for seasonal employees.
There are good integrations between payroll, HR, time and benefits compared to using separate third party modules. However, we do see that they are not totally integrated and have had problems from time to time with time coming into payroll, for example.
Dayforce Feature Ratings
Using Ceridian Dayforce HCM
8500 - All of our employees, from executive management to line managers to seasonal seafood processors in our production areas use Ceridian Dayforce HCM. In our production areas, we use Ceridian time clocks and have kiosks and other computer stations available in our vessels and plants to allow employees to review their timesheets, view their paycheck stubs, enroll or make changes in benefits and more. Employees can also see their timesheets and hours worked in the Dayforce mobile app. Our managers and HR staff can initiate workflows to change shift rotations, transfer between locations, add secondary work assignments and more.
2 - We have one HRIS Manager in HR and one Sr. Business Analyst in IT. They are able to make configuration changes, review and test Hotfix and scheduled new releases, create new reports, troubleshoot issues, and more. We hope to add additional resources in 2018.
- Next day payroll funding
- Complexity in pay types- including daily rated, annual, salaried non-exempt with guaranteed hours, case rated employees on fishing boats
- Piece rate calculations for production work
- High volume seasonal hiring
- We recently rolled out the Performance Module for our admin/professional group so we look to continue to roll that out across our organization in the future for different types of employees.
- We would like to explore the Learning Management System partners and their capabilities
- When there are more improvements and features and functionality in the recruiting and onboarding modules, we would look to add those modules.
