DraftSight for conceptual drawings
Overall Satisfaction with DraftSight
DraftSight is used by an individual for producing basic concept sketches of our fiberglass buildings during the quoting process. Once an order is received we use SOLIDWORKS to create an actual model and drawings of the building. During the quoting process we do not need the level of detail, hence the use of DraftSight.
Pros
- Quicker for basic drawings.
- Shares many similarities with AutoCAD.
- Very good return for what it costs.
Cons
- From a person who was self taught on SOLIDWORKS, DraftSight is not as easy to pick up on your own. I spend a lot of time searching the internet for how to do things.
- It helps our business to provide a little extra during the quoting process compared to other manufacturers.
- I was using the free version for years, but even at $100 a year it is a no brainer.
- AutoCAD and SOLIDWORKS
For me, I would say AutoCAD is exactly the same, but [I] used DraftSight because it was free at the time and still significantly less expensive than AutoCAD. I would say it really doesn't compare to SOLIDWORKS for what I do.
