Overall Satisfaction with Google Sheets

Google Sheets is invaluable to my work. At its most basic, it is spreadsheet software that makes keeping data stored in an easy to view format. It has many different built-in sort and filter features as well as an extensive list of functions to enhance data. Google Sheets comes alive when paired with Apps Script where with a little coding knowledge, much work can be automated.

  • Apps Script allowing for custom functions.
  • Processing speed when working on very large data sources.
  • Better Apps Script support for newer features.
  • An automatic highlight duplicates option.
  • Don't need to pay for Microsoft 365.
  • Makes data collection free.
  • Integrates well with Google Drive.
I find Google Sheets much simpler and easier to use than Microsoft Excel. It is free which can make a huge difference if you are on a budget. It is also entirely web-based which makes sharing and collaborating much easier as well as ensuring that there is only one version of the document at any time.

Google Sheets is best suited for any data manipulation or storage needs. It is easy to record macros, which is fantastic if you find yourself always formatting abstract data in the same way. It is also fantastic when you need multiple people to all update the spreadsheet at once due to being able to have multiple users online at a time. It is fantastic for collating Google Form data as it supports automatic syncing.
