Overall Satisfaction with Hero
Hero is currently being used at our Middle School. I can only assume that a lot of the teachers are using it because students' points are increasing daily. Some of the participation data is shared with us by our school's vice principal who is the person responsible for implementing the program in our building.
- Helps to reduce tardies and absences in classroom.
- Helps to engage students in activities when points are involved.
- Administrators and parents are able to access instant classroom data to check in on their child/student.
- Teachers are only able to access behaviors for students. I wish there was a feature that would allow teachers to possibly track students assignments/work.
- Teachers should be able to select how many points they would like to give a student, instead of just being able to give 1 point at time. The task of giving students multiple points can be very time consuming.
- Sometimes the system seems to freeze. I don't know if that's due to the site itself or our building's internet speed.
- Greater number of students arriving to class on time.
- Reduction in cutting class.
- I do not know the cost of the program, so I can't speak from a financial standpoint about the 'business' side of things.
- Class Dojo
The only other program that I have used similar to Hero was Class Dojo. The thing that I loved about Class Dojo is that we were able to directly interact and converse with parents. Parents emails and cell phones were linked to the system. We were able to send out classroom broadcasts to all the parents at one time. We were also able to provide snapshots into the classroom as well. The other feature that stood out was the distribution of points. Teachers were allowed to distribute points much more easily than Hero. Those 2 things stood out the most to me.
