Overall Satisfaction with Lifesize Video Conferencing

Some people wanted to save money by using a webcam on a PC in some of the rooms. The rooms that have the Lifesize Icon systems have far superior video and sound quality.
As our number of our branch offices grew we needed a way for employees to meet quickly and easily without wasting time traveling. The primary goal was to tie conference rooms together without the need to login to a PC and start a software solution. We started with 4 conference rooms with a large TV and a Lifesize Icon with the Lifesize HD phone. Ease of use was very important to us because the users of the system would range from front-line employees to C-level executives. With the Icon and HD phone, joining a meeting is simply choosing join and selecting the room or conference from the list on the screen. Since the initial deployment, we have grown to 14 rooms installed and are using the system for everything from one on one meetings to employee meetings with several offices connected at once. Use has expanded from internal use to meeting with customers and even been used for interviewing prospective employees. Support has always been great but the system is so easy to use we rarely need support. Overall we are very happy with our Lifesize deployment.
  • Ease of use
  • High quality hardware
  • Video and sound quality is excellent with the Icon systems
  • Ease of use sometimes means sacrificing of advanced controls for power users
  • Since it is a cloud solution, it relies on a quality internet connection.
The system works best when joining individual remote users to a conference room. The system sometimes struggles with who to make the focus when several rooms with large groups are meeting. This would probably be a problem with most systems. With large groups it is better to use lecture mode where only one room broadcasts to all other attendees.
