Overall Satisfaction with Lucidchart

3 points less for its learning curve. 7 points for its pool of sophisticated options which helps a professional.
We use Lucidchart across the organization. It was always a challenge to collectively bring cross-product team under the same conclusion/goal, especially when it comes to architectural challenges. Lucidchart effectively filled that gap in a seamless but efficient way. I still remember where the challenge was to bring up a uniform authentication service across our product range. Each product team was throwing ideas and we felt there was a lack of a platform where such architectural ideas are captured and discussed to its core. We started using Lucidchart for the same and then the journey was way efficient where each product team’s architectural concepts were drawn and the options were very well laid out on the table. Collaboration on such a platform was the need of the hour and we are happy that we found out the right tool for the same.
  • Use case model designing
  • Architectural diagrams with sharing capability
  • Lots of options to draw diagrams. Sometimes this exact beneficial feature becomes challenging as the team gets confused to pick up the perfect one from a lot of options. A suggestion mechanism with a contextual sense would be a room for raising the bar.
  • Learning curve can be mitigated with more frequent tutorials or community discussions. Not sure if this is already there in full fledge which I am not aware.
  • Improved clarity in the technical solutions
  • Helped to harness the best out of all the options on the table
AWS architectural diagrams are our daily bread & butter. Lucidchart just helps us there in its best capacity. There was this complex service that was taking time to grasp for a few teams and then we shared the same idea in a data flow model to those members using the “share” feature in Lucidchart. One picture is way better than a thousand words. It helped!
I haven't used Lucidchart support much as I was a self-learner and was able to learn Lucidchart quickly. Maybe because I had a background in modeling and diagrams.

Given a situation where you have to brainstorm and collaborate on architectural ideas, I would suggest going for LucidChart. If you are a newbie on use-case modeling or architectural diagrams, then LucidChart may become challenging for you as it is very mature with a lot of options.
