Overall Satisfaction with Onshape

Our design team of 12 professional CAD users needs to communicate design throughout our company and beyond to suppliers and customers. Onshape is ideal to easily and widely share CAD, yet retain secure permission-based access to data. For a company our size, the CAD administration team would usually be one or two full-time employees. With SaaS CAD, there is minimal administration and Onshape handles support questions. Onshape support is outstanding; they exceed my expectations every time!
  • Collaboration
  • Security
  • User interface
  • Improve granular data sharing
  • Adding features for weldments, renders and simulations
  • Expanding data management to include ECRs, ECOs
  • Saved $50k on implementing PDM database
  • CAD Admin is minimal; additional $25k savings / year in database maintenance
Amazing support, beyond expectations No doubt this is supported by SaaS architecture. Support can directly see the same model and drawing I can if given permission They address issues almost immediately; it would be rare to even wait 1 hour before getting a direct, personal response Best customer service I have ever experienced
It takes time to get to know the software. It opens new possibilities in traditional design. Your team will need to collectively learn to think differently about workflow CAD has always been an individual endeavor; one model, one person at a time. Onshape frees design and supports innovation without worrying about broken links, blowing up mating structures, and misaligned hole patterns

Ideal for companies ready to invest in Product Data Management (PDM) database to handle CAD sharing and permissions Typically this is needed as the design team grows from 3 to 8 users. Beyond that, PDMs are necessary to keep data organized Onshape has data management deeply integrated and offers effortless cloud-native sharing, branching, and merging of designs. This is a unique feature not found in any other CAD system If companies have hundreds of employees that are deeply invested in a PDM system, Onshape may not be the best system for them. The company itself must be ready. People resist change and seek security in the familiar. Onshape is the best CAD system but larger companies need deep internal support and enthusiasm to sustain change and move forward into a new CAD future
