Financials in ERP Cloud offer many advantages, particularly in suite of modules provided by Oracle.

Modules Used
- Oracle Financials Cloud
Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Cloud ERP
Oracle ERP Cloud is being used across our entire global organization. It has helped to facilitate or improve multiple global business processes. It supports extensive REST APIs for various tasks and automation. In particular, we have had great success leveraging the allocation functionality to automate common journal entries. The GL allocation functionality is very different than on-premise EBS, but much more powerful if used correctly.
- REST APIs
- GL Allocations
- OTBI Reporting
- User interface can "hang" since it's in a web browser
- Direct connectivity to SQL tables is not supported via an ODBC connection - Oracle Analytics Cloud is required for more advanced analysis
- Error messages are not always self-explanatory
Oracle provides a truly extensive range of capabilities for various modules. It's very easy to add modules at later dates, but not all of the modules will be truly best of breed. However, not having to integrate other technologies into an ERP stack, particularly in the cloud, means that Oracle has few if any competitors in the Cloud ERP space for the breadth of their suite (as of August 2019).
- Lower total cost of ownership.
- Reduced time to close - continuous close.
- Increased visibility to financial close process.

Oracle Cloud ERP Feature Ratings
Decision Factors & Implementation
Yes - We replaced a Microsoft GL product with Oracle Cloud ERP Financials, Procurement, and Supply Chain. Our prior product was not scalable globally, and did not have a robust Supply Chain Module. We also struggled previously with more advanced features in the Financials space, including integration capabilities with REST API endpoints and OLAP cube capabilities.
- Price
- Product Features
Price and Product Features drove our decision making process to a large extent. Total Cost of Ownership was significantly lower than other options, since we didn't need to maintain any infrastructure. Our industry is also heavily based around Oracle Cloud ERP, so there is a significant talent pool to draw from.
It was deployed on time and on budget. The challenge was that the implementation timeline was very short, and there were significant components of the implementation that we would have done differently in retrospect. One of our biggest "lessons learned" was to select an implementation team that had performed Cloud implementations previously. On-premise is very different.
