employees throughout the entire employee lifecycle, increase
productivity, and create a culture of learning.
All in all, the Absorb LMS system is a user-friendly system for the employee as well as the administrator. Creating courses is not cumbersome and allows for a variety of types. The only missing type of content that it doesn't allow is the upload of a PPT that can be viewed directly in the training window instead of forcing the download to the user's computer. The workaround is to save the PPT presentation as a video or to create a scorm file. I really like the scheduled emailed course activity reports that can be set up for course owners so that they may track course completion by users. All in all, I would highly rate the system from a cost standpoint, user-friendliness, and in the area of course creation. I do wish the more advanced reporting features were included without a significant cost upgrade.
Neogov is structured especially for local governments. They understand the needs of their customers and have the experience to help communities of any size acquire talented public servants. This is a public sector solution and probably isn't best suited for the private sector
The admin reporting dashboard is amazing. Customizing widgets with course stats for our courses allows us to see (or share with stakeholders) visual representations of our progress immediately upon login.
Publishing SCORM content from Create into the LMS is seamless. Maintenance and editing is a breeze!
I have worked in many systems in my tenure as a designer at multiple companies- the admin side of Absorb is by FAR the easiest to learn and use. Many systems have a deeply nested structure that is difficult to navigate - Absorb has lots of features and options but doesn't nest them in a way that difficult to understand.
The LMS is flexible and provides options regarding course setup that is nearly limitless. If you want multiple lessons within one course you can do that- if you want only one lesson per course but then you want to build a curriculum you can do that. You can enforce orders with ease. Set up enrollment rules with ease. Use email messaging from within the system- or turn it off for individual courses while not affecting global levels. Those are just a few examples of things I have done in Absorb with ease that couldn't be done in other systems I worked with.
Succession Planning - Neogov offers various layers that prepares users for succession planning for government based positions (i.e. Police Chief, Fire Chief, etc.).
Specialized Recruitment for Governments - Neogov specializes in helping governments find and hire within the diverse and ever changing field of municipal governance.
Applicant Tracking - Neogov streamlines the application process when the time comes to hire a talented candidate(s).
Reporting; I set this as an area that Absorb is doing well, but it's also an area that I would like to see more customization in. There are a lot of built-in reporting capabilities, but it would be nice to have more Salesforce-esque reporting capabilities built-in
Variables; it would be great to have more variables with setting auto-enrollments, reporting rules, etc.. similiar to Appsheet or low-code software where you can use more IF/THEN/AND/OR capabilities.
It's not needed, but a better built-in course creation software, similiar to Easygenerator would be a great addition.
We have no plans to move away from Absorb at this time. It has all of the functionality we are looking for in a learning management system and we have a lot of info stored in our LMS system for trainings including all of our current and past employee transcripts. It is also getting easier to manager with being able to connect the LMS to ADP to update employee reporting/department/location/etc. We don't have a need or reason to move away from Absorb at this time.
Customer support has been consistently helpful and quick to respond. When we were launching an important course, the support team went above and beyond to work with us on-call and test the course before launch due to the course's size and complexity
Absorb LMS is certainly better than most of the platforms out in the market due as it's far more intuitive and offers far more templates and customizations, while the other two platforms are also good in their respective specialties, Absorb LMS completely nails it in the number of features and functionality it offers. The customizations that Absorb LMS is offering are not available on the other platforms which have been very much beneficial to our company.
[NEOGOV] offers a complete and modern talent management system for the Public Sector. It was built for the public sector which allows it to stand alone within the HR field. When using products such as Indeed.com and Linkedin local governments are lost within a much larger universe.
Neogov saves time for our HR operations. For example, candidates can complete pre-employment forms within the platform's Onboard feature. This saves resources (paper, ink, etc) and time allowing for a more efficient hiring process.
Customer Service Efficiency - Unlike many commonly used HR products (ADP, Quickbooks, etc.) Neogov understands the challenges that are unique to local governments. When needed, their customer service teams are friendly and helpful saving you the headache of explaining your particular issue.
Employee training features - Our employees are provided with insightful training opportunities which can be tracked and monitored annually.
