Likelihood to Recommend

Archibus

Archibus is well suited for organizations requiring heavy reporting functions, and that have complex processes for managing moves and space chargebacks. It is less well suited for organizations that require input from multiple users (such as doing an employee seating survey).

FAMIS

[Well suited when] Linked to EMS - when planning an event that requires furniture delivery or room type changes, we can select that in EMS and create a report that feed to FAMIS and assigns a crew. OR, if you create the work order in FAMIS, have it be able to import back to EMS to include in the booking.

Pros

Archibus

  • Floor Plans provide dynamic reports group by floor, department, location, room type and function. It is very useful for space planning against budget.
  • Building Operations allow users to log a request for repair. The workflow will alert different business areas to respond in a timely manner.
  • Condition Assessment allows us to audit the current condition of building, equipment, furniture and others.

FAMIS

  • The ability to create new reports and format them to exactly what you are looking for in a said report.
  • Finding mistakes as far as user errors or placing information in the wrong fields or boxes. Interfaces can be made to track these things
  • Key Access portfolio, tracking keys for all of our building users

Cons

Archibus

  • User Interface could be improved - it takes many steps to get to features within Webcentral, too complex, created for power users.
  • Pricing and fee schedules - surprised to find that they charged separately for Space Chargeback features within Space Management and annual maintenance fees.
  • Slow interface.

FAMIS

  • Needs to be more fields for "pick up/drop off times," or to put in deadline times.
  • More communication back and forth to users and the person the order is assigned to. When updates are made, there is no notification that they have been acknowledged.
  • It would be nice to have pricing associated with different requests. It is a guesstimate every time on how much labour or time will be needed. Some sort of price menu would be great so when we check the financial page of the order we are not surprised every time.

Alternatives Considered

Archibus

Archibus compares well with other IWMS software when it comes to integrating with BIM models and reporting capabilities. I selected Archibus as it has all the tools and processes needed to manage space and moves, with the intention to expand to other modules like Lease Administration and Asset Management. The constant upgrades to Archibus also helps to keep the software up-to-date with other third party products such as Revit.
