Very good online option for flowcharts and other purposes; can be quite cost-effective, too, depending on how you use it.

Front

Front is definitely good for teams that are spread out, in different locations. It's also a very good way to integrate general mailboxes such as a "sales@" type email, and your individual work email so you don't have to continually log into multiple email boxes.

Pros

  • Creately provides the same experience that other similar tools (i.e. Visio) provides, but presents it in a much more colorful, unique manner. The colors are vibrant, and my clients have always been impressed with the quality and feel.
  • Creately provides a lot of creative control over how your images look. I can play with the opacity and color scheme, or use what they already provide.
  • Creately also allows me to create wireframes for clients to review, whether desktop or mobile. I can create simple, easy to understand frames and concepts in minutes - they're super professional looking and ready to share.
  • I like the pricing model. Right now I can pay month-to-month, or pay a one-time fee for a year. It's also less expensive than Visio, which is very nice.

  • The transition Creately made this year to their new non-Flash platform seems to almost function like a beta release in some instances.
  • Customer support sometimes takes a while to return and the responses are not always the best or most helpful. Follow up isn't great, either.

  • I wish that my first email in the inbox would not be marked as read when I open front. I always have to mark it unread before moving on to whatever task I opened front to do.

It's very easy to understand and use by new customer support agents as well. Be it a technology, product, or marketing person, we have trained most of the company folks to read and respond to customer conversations in their free time with the help of the Front app. It is also easy to set up for an admin and manage his/her team with communication rules.

I haven't used Creately's support. I don't know what to rate this to be honest. If there was an "N/A," I'd use that. I like products where I don't have to do a lot of research or studying to learn how to use the software. Creately allows me to jump in and go.

In terms of pricing and functionality, Creately was the clear winner at the time, although the jury is still out on Creately's new version in terms of how simple it may be to use.

Front

Zendesk is by far the market leader here and offers a tremendous solution. It is, of course, very expensive -- especially if you require multi-brand support. Many of the other solutions (except Groove) offer some flavor of multi-brand support but they are not as good as Zendesk. For example, the HappyFox multi-brand solution breaks down when it comes to FAQ setup -- the setup is extremely cumbersome and not worth the effort. The other area to watch out is with mobile support. Zendesk offers a clean and intuitive design on any device automatically out-of-the-box. Others, like Cayzu, are solid, but lack mobile support at this level -- probably a deal-breaker for most.We started using Front before we realized how important a live, robust FAQ resource would be for each site that we support. As we've learned firsthand, it would have been much better to integrate these features from the outset -- and hence we should have chosen something other than Front. If you are just supporting your customers with a single email address and don't have an extensive FAQ or knowledgebase, then Front could be a great option for you.

  • Creately is less expensive and dare I say more professional looking than Visio. It looks great at a fraction of the price.
  • Creately allows me to share ideas and processes with my clients. It shows that I understand their business processes, and increases their trust in my abilities to work with them.

  • Allows us to better organize incoming leads. Huge ROI there.
  • The cost per user, definitely limits the impact we actually would have wanted, had we been able to purchase more users.
  • Takes some time to get organized and stay organized.
