DevExpress Universal vs. Next.js

When you want to display spreadsheet based reports, it's really convenient as it has everything out of the box.

If you have very basic components like combo boxes or lists, there is hardly a point in using such a large component set.

In the end, it's a matter of finding a good balance between functionality and complexity.

I love using Next.js — it's my go-to framework for new personal projects and work projects. The local development environment is quick, easy, and fun to use. The framework it uses, which puts an API that runs node in your pages subdirectory, is absolutely genius. No more middleware! It's good for quick projects and big projects alike. I wouldn't use Next.js if I did not want to heavily rely on serverless tech.

• Window sizing makes handling SSR pages odd, at times
• React can be easier to statically deploy

DevExpress Universal controls are much simpler to use, implement and customized as compared to Kendo. Learning curve for telerik is high, though level of customization that can be achieved with telerik exceeds that of DevExpress Universal. Found DevExpress Universal community support to be better then its competitors. License cost is also a wining bar here.

Next.js takes the best parts of React and applies them to a full-stack dev environment. With a built-in serverless API, it's easy to boot up a web application in under an hour. With easy integration with tools like Firebase, Supabase, Stripe, and countless others, Next.js is a perfect tool for getting your idea out into the real world.

• It is good for asp.net application and it takes less time in development which we used two years back.
• We have stopped with these tools when clients were asking applications to be built in angular or react. We have switched to Kendo.

• It saves me a lot of time when writing serverless code
• Deployment, via Vercel, is fast, quick, and easy to debug
