we were already using big ip ltm for servers so this product allowed us to use another layer 5-7 in the same device without the need to complex our enviornment.

F5 BIG-IP Access Policy Manager integrates extremely well with the rest of our F5 infrastructure which is a big plus and provides us with a familiar user interface, but it isn't as scalable in its current iteration as something like Zscaler Private Access.

We looked at Okta and Netscaler. We already had the F5 in-house for strictly Load Balancing purposes. So since we already had it was an easy solution for Access Management. We also use the ASM (web application firewall).

I think that the platform is well suited to many Remote Access VPN solutions, but I also think there is a lot of room for improvement on the backend. If you are hoping to deploy your APM solution across many different datacenters or colos, it may not be the best choice for the final solution.

  • This is really a tough question and I believe F5 should look into the price tags of these products which would help the SMB segments to use this product.
  • As for our industry and the kind of business the ROI is a bit high.
